Unbelievable DIY tips for the holidays using incredibly cheap Kmart products

As the holiday season approaches, the excitement of decorating our homes and wrapping gifts for our loved ones is often tempered by the reality of our budgets.

But fear not, as Kmart shoppers have come up with some ingenious DIY tips to make your Christmas sparkle without breaking the bank.

DIY Gift Bags: A Sustainable and Economical Solution

The joy of giving is often marred by the stress of finding the perfect gift and then wrapping it beautifully.

And let's not forget the guilt that comes with discarding the wrapping paper and bows that you spent your hard-earned money on.

Fabric bags are becoming a popular alternative to paper gift bags as they're not only aesthetically pleasing but also reusable, making them a sustainable and economical choice.

However, the initial cost can be a deterrent, especially for larger bags or those from high-end stores.

One savvy shopper found a solution to this problem by creating her own gift bags using an unexpected Kmart item: a Christmas Eve Reversible Quilt Cover Set - Single Bed, priced at just $14.

'I was sick of wasting wrapping paper, so decided to spend some time and make my own Christmas drawstring bags to reuse each year,' the mum said.

The reversible quilt cover provided her with two designs of material, totalling four metres of polyester and cotton fabric. This is comparable to, or even cheaper than, buying the fabric separately.

She used the fabric and a $7 Macrame Cord to create 14 unique drawstring bags in various sizes and shapes.

This DIY project not only saved her money but also provided a sustainable solution to gift wrapping.

The advice was well received by Kmart fans, who offered other ideas for DIY fabric bags. Some suggested using Kmart tea towels for sewing projects, while others recommended using pillowcases as gift bags.

The Perfect Christmas Tree Trick

The quest for the perfect Christmas tree can be a daunting one, especially when the lush, movie-perfect trees come with a hefty price tag.

But one woman found a solution to make her tree look fuller using Kmart's $12 1.8m Christmas Light Up Green Garland.

'I was sick of having gaps in my Christmas tree and could never fluff it up enough to fill them in, so this year, I grabbed the last two garlands with lights at my local Kmart and wound it up the middle. Problem solved,' she said in a post online.

She wound the garland up the middle of her tree, filling in the gaps and creating a fuller, more festive look. This simple and affordable method can transform any sparse tree into a lush centrepiece for your holiday decorations.

DIY Christmas Wreath: A Festive Welcome

There's something magical about approaching a house adorned with a Christmas wreath. And you can create your own festive welcome for under $30, thanks to another creative Kmart shopper.

She used a $2 Pool Noodle from Kmart as the base for her wreath, taping the ends together to form a circle.

So, why not give these a try this holiday season? You might be surprised at what you can create with creativity and some affordable Kmart products.

Juliet – Inexpensive & Simple Christmas Gifts
Christmas is a crazy time of year when we all seem to be running around, stressed, time and money poor. Juliet has three gifts ideas, a foot soak mixture, scented room spray and a homemade noughts and crosses set. Of course, wrapping gifts like these can be difficult to make look neat and tidy, so Juliet will also show you how to create a simple and stylish gift bag that will hide any shaped present inside!

This yr I got bored so have wrapped the front screen door in red strips of material to resemble the wrapping on a present and added a big gold bow, also did this on the gate at the bottom of my front stairs - gift wrapped some empty cardboard boxes, put ribbon around them, stood them on top of each other, added a bow and placed them on the verandah as a decoration; made my own bottle lights for the table with empty jars, foam Xmas related stickers and battery run lights - next I'm going to make napkin holders using an empty Glad Wrap tube cut into 3cm pieces, wrap them in Xmas paper and add a foam sticker to each one.
