Two friends got in a fight over a cat—who do you think is being unreasonable?

AIBU, which stands for 'Am I Being Unreasonable', is the perfect platform for sharing your thoughts and opinions! So, for today's AIBU discussion, we have this story from Reddit/anon_mouse82:

Am I being unreasonable for correcting a friend when she said she 're-homed' her cat?

'My friend told a story about re-homing her cat because it wouldn’t stop going to the bathroom on her bed.'

'She said she put the cat in its carrier and left it outside the door of a local salon before they opened. She said she checked in later, and one of the girls had decided to adopt the cat, so the re-homing was a success.'

'I told her that what she did was not re-homing, and that what she had actually done was dump her cat. I told her that re-homing involves finding an owner and vetting them in advance.'

'She got very angry at me for “judging” her. Am I being unreasonable?'

WOW, now this is a person who should be banned from owning a pet ever again.
Am actually curious as to whether the cat was male or female. My son's family have 3 male cats and they had a huge problem with the middle one peeing on absolutely everything from the kitchen benches to the bathroom sinks, in closets and on beds. Turned out that all they had to do was get the cat neutered. Problem solved. First cat was already neutered and the third was done as soon as he was old enough.

If a cat pees on your bed, it's very likely you haven't cleaned its litter box properly - if at all! Either that, or the cat may have a urinary tract infection. She abandoned that poor animal, which is reprehensible!
My friend’s son and his then girlfriend were going on a road trip around Australia, he had a cat and wanted to take it to the pound..
On hearing what he wanted to do I asked him to bring the cat and I will look after it even though I don’t like cats.
The cat lives with me. My daughter, hubby and grandkids love cats and she gets all the love from them every week.. I’m happy I was able to save the cat’s life.

Your so-called-friend dumped her cat as she couldn’t be bothered finding the reason for it wetting on her bed. Cats are a clean animal, so, doing things like that are not right. Was her cat treated well?… did it have a medical issue? Your “friend” just couldn’t be bothered in finding out the reason why. She doesn’t deserve to have a pet at all.

Cats are sensitive creatures. There's always a reason for cats not using their litter box. She obviously couldn't be bothered to find a solution. She was very lucky no harm came to the cat, plus she passed on her issue to the staff at the Salon to deal with.
