TV fans and stars pay tribute to late General Hospital actor

The entertainment industry is a place where many stars come and leave their mark on their fans’ hearts.

This time, the world of daytime television mourns the loss of one of its most enduring and beloved stars.

Chris Robinson, the veteran actor known for his iconic roles in General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful, has passed away.

Robinson was 86 years old.

He died peacefully in his sleep at his ranch near Sedona, Arizona, after a period of heart failure.

His passing was confirmed by musician MJ Allen, whom he worked with for the 2022 feature film Just for a Week.

Robinson’s passing came shortly after the passing of another General Hospital star, Ron Hale.

For many Australians who were glued to the telly during the afternoon, Chris Robinson was a familiar face and a comforting presence.

His role as Dr Rick Webber on General Hospital made him a household name in daytime TV.

Apart from General Hospital, his decades-long career has touched the lives of millions of viewers globally.

Chris Robinson’s journey in show business began in the 1950s.

He once worked as an actor and a stuntman in movies like Diary of a High School Bride and Beast from Haunted Cave.

Despite the adrenaline rush of action movies, he found his calling in soap operas.

Robinson joined the General Hospital cast in 1978, as he played Dr Rick Webber in replacement of Michael Gregory.

He quickly became a central figure in General Hospital, as he delivered some of the show’s most memorable storylines.

These stories included a dramatic love triangle with his on-screen wife Lesley Webber, played by Denise Alexander, and Monica Quartermaine.

Fans remember the episode’s emotional highs and lows, the weddings, the betrayals, and the reconciliations that made Dr Webber a soap opera mainstay.

Robinson’s talents weren’t limited to soap operas.

He starred as Technical Sgt. Sandy Komansky in the 1960s ABC drama 12 O’Clock High.

He also worked alongside Hollywood greats like Burt Lancaster in The Young Savages (1961) and Birdman of Alcatraz (1962).

After leaving General Hospital in 1986, Robinson continued to make his mark on the genre.

He joined Another World in 1987 and played as Jason Frame, where he reunited with his General Hospital co-star, Denise Alexander.

In the early 1990s, Robinson joined The Bold and the Beautiful cast as Jack Hamilton.

He remained a fixture on the show for three years, with guest appearances stretching into the 2000s.

In 2002, Robinson made a much-anticipated return to General Hospital after a 16-year absence.

However, his comeback was short-lived, as his character was killed off in a storyline that divided fans.

Despite the controversy, Robinson had an undeniable impact on the show, and he returned once more in 2013 for the show’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

Like many stars, Robinson’s life wasn’t without its challenges.

In 1985, he pleaded guilty to federal income tax evasion but was allowed to do General Hospital shoots under a prison work-release provision.

I have never watched General Hospital or Days of Our Lives. Although my sister inlaw was addicted to both since the early 80s. Even when she moved to Greece she still watched both.
I only ever watched one daytime soap which was Another World.

Chris Robinson sounded like a colourful character, and still working on set while serving a prison sentence, that is rare.

Re my above, I'll finish.
We were addicted to the "B&B" going back a few years ago when Ronn Moss was in it as Ridge Forrester. But, can't recall Chris in the series at all.

It looks as though he had an interesting acting career which he undoubtedly excelled therein.

I also watched Another World and can just remember Rachel Corey and Wallingford (think that was his name). 🌷

I also was addicted to watching the Bold & The Beautiful. All of my friends reckon Brooke got younger every year, until she was younger than her kids on the show ie. botox. Anyway, it's one of those shows that you can miss an episode, and the next day you don't miss anything. I worked out the show only goes for 20 minutes, bar the ads.
