Triple M reveals replacement for previously sacked radio host

In the dynamic world of radio broadcasting, the microphone never stays silent for long.

Following Marty Sheargold's sudden exit from Triple M, a new voice is set to resonate through the airwaves.

Marty Sheargold's fall from grace was swift and severe.

Infamous for his sharp wit and edgy humour, Sheargold crossed a line a few months ago with his disparaging remarks about the Matildas and women's sports.

His comments, which likened the professional football team to 'year ten girls', sparked a firestorm of criticism.

Sheargold also expressed his preference for self-mutilation over watching women's sports.

The backlash was immediate and intense, which led to his departure from the network.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned Sheargold's words and highlighted the unity the Matildas brought during the 2023 World Cup.

Sheargold's attempt at humour fell flat and ignited a conversation about respect and the value of women in sports.

His subsequent apology acknowledged the offence caused, but his tenure at Triple M came to an end.

NRL athlete and Parramatta Eels captain Nathan Hindmarsh is stepping into the spotlight and taking over Sheargold's previous role.

Hindmarsh is ready to tackle the challenge of engaging listeners during the coveted afternoon drive time.

Since hanging up his boots in 2012, Hindmarsh became a mainstay in the sport industry through his work with Fox Sports.

His transition to radio was seen as a bold move but one that promised a fresh perspective.

For NSW listeners, Hindmarsh will be joining Triple M's Rush Hour starting Monday, 28 April.

Hindmarsh will be joined by a team of seasoned professionals, including broadcaster Anthony Maroon and sports reporter Adam Peacock.

NRLW premiership players Millie Elliott, Sam Bremner, and Keeley Davis will also join the conversation.

Rush Hour's diverse lineup should offer rich insights and entertainment, becoming a staple for sports fans during their evening commute.

Queensland listeners will have their version of Rush Hour, helmed by Ben 'Dobbo' Dobbin and Elliott Lovejoy.

Both hosts would also be supported by a rotating cast of NRLW stars, including Ali Brigginshaw, Romy Teitzel, Jaime Chapman, and Mackenzie Weale.

The shake-up at Triple M showed the network's commitment to moving forward, learning from past mistakes, and providing a platform that celebrates sport.

With Hindmarsh at the helm, listeners can expect a blend of expertise, enthusiasm, and respect for the games and athletes they love.

It's a testament to the resilience of the sport community and the enduring power of radio to connect everyone through the voices that bring Australians' favourite games to life.

He was perhaps right, however his way of saying it fell flat.
One way and the only way to see the value of woman's sports is the old 'bums on seats' who paid to be there watching.
Is there more 'bums on seats' at men's or woman's sports. It's not an opinion its a marketing fact to make money.

sorry folks but I also have no interest in games where women try to be men. They have already yelled for "better bras for us to play in" and I'm waiting for the day when some female discovers too late that she was pregnant after diving on a ball, throwing herself on the ground, and loses the baby. Haven't they learned anything about injuries from the men? I'd also be interested in how the women will deal with ACL type injuries, kids, housework, etc. Maybe they could play soccer, but not be goalie, which was a childhood dream of mine
