As various locations across the globe are beginning to open up once again and fully recovering from the pandemic, tons of people are already keen to plan their next getaway.
If you can relate and have been meaning to satisfy your wanderlust for a while now, one self-proclaimed traveller shared her best money-saving tips for going on a holiday without breaking the bank!
TikToker Téa Angelos revealed her top tricks to saving money when travelling in a sequence of two videos – from packing snacks and a water bottle beforehand to booking flights weeks prior to your intended travel date.
The 25 year old said that booking flights at least six weeks in advance, using ‘cashback’ services, and signing up for travel sales alerts will grant you a worry-free, bargain trip.

When booking flights, she suggested that it's best to sign up for airline mailing lists so you can be alerted immediately when the prices drop and make the most out of the deals and sales.
She also added that among all the days of the week, Wednesday is usually the cheapest day to fly. She also recommends comparing fares with services like Google Flights or Webjet.
Instead of purchasing overpriced food at the airport, Téa prefers to pack some snacks, food, and a filled water bottle beforehand, all stored in her carry-on luggage. Always having your own water and food (we think this is a good tip even when you’re not on holiday!) can save you plenty of money when out and about.

She also avoids spending on check-in luggage to save both time and money at the airport.
There are also multiple platforms that allow you to compare Hotel and accommodation prices.
“Check the actual hotel website as they sometimes offer special deals/discounts,” Téa wrote.
If you’re planning to travel internationally, travel cards often charge small fees to use (some don’t charge you at all) compared to credit cards, which often come with steep foreign exchange fees and ATM costs.
When you arrive at your destination, consider exploring free tourist attractions first before opting for paid activities. Also, resist the urge to rent a car or use ride-hailing services such as Uber – get around using public transportation instead!
It may seem a little intimidating, especially if you’re travelling overseas, but it’ll cost you way less than paying for a car rental or being chauffeured around.
