Transgression in the Clergy​

In the Times today there is a report of an Israeli soldier being in deep trouble for eating a ham sandwich. Apparently he was a recent immigrant for the USA and didn’t realise the gravity of this awful sin!
It reminded me of the tale of the Rabbi and Catholic priest sat next to each other on a long flight. They get into conversation and the priest says to the Rabbi – “ You must have had temptation because of your rules and practices in the Jewish faith”.
The Rabbi says – “Matter of fact, I did transgress once – I had a ham sandwich when I was very hungry and I have regretted it ever since. Have you ever transgressed ?”
The priest says – “ Yes – I once fell in love with one of my parishioners – a lovely young lady and we had mad passionate affair”
Rabbi pauses for a moment and then says -
“ Sure as hell beats a ham sandwich !!”
