Tragic loss in Hollywood: Angel Salazar of Scarface fame passes away at 68

The entertainment world is mourning the loss of an iconic actor, Angel Salazar.

He is known for his memorable role as Chi Chi in the iconic gangster film Scarface.
At the age of 68, Salazar's passing marks the end of a career that spanned several decades, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and memorable screen moments.


Angel Salazar's representative, Ann Wingsong, confirmed to TMZ that the Cuban-American actor passed away peacefully in his sleep at a friend's home in Brooklyn.

While the cause of death has not been disclosed, it was mentioned that Salazar had been dealing with heart issues before his passing.

Born in 1956, Salazar's journey to stardom began with his breakout role in Scarface (1983), where he played the loyal sidekick to Al Pacino's Tony Montana.

His portrayal of Chi Chi left an indelible mark on the film industry, showcasing his ability to bring depth and humour to his characters.

Following the success of Scarface, Salazar continued to make his mark in Hollywood with roles in films such as Where the Buffalo Roam'(1980), A Stranger is Watching (1982), The Wild Life (1984), Punchline (1988), and Carlito's Way (1993).


Beyond the silver screen, Salazar was also a talented comedian.

He graced the stage with regular appearances on the NBC series Last Comic Standing and was known for his stand-up comedy.

He coined the catchphrase 'Sheck it out!' that became synonymous with his performances.

His last known performance was at Reno's Silver Legacy Resort and Casino, where he entertained audiences from 1 August to 4 August.

Salazar's friend and fellow actor, Bobby Ciasulli, took to social media to share the news of his passing, expressing deep sorrow and admiration for the man he knew.

Ciasulli's heartfelt tribute highlighted Salazar's kind nature: ‘This was one of the sweetest humans that I have ever been fortunate enough to have met and worked with and most importantly been his friend!’
