Tomato and basil pasta

This pasta dish is a classic Italian dish that is not only delicious but also easy to make. It’s a great dish to make for a quick and easy weeknight meal, or when you can’t be bothered to cook but want to eat something healthy! The pasta is cooked in a tomato sauce and is flavoured with basil.


Ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 (400g) can diced tomatoes

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/4 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 cup chopped fresh basil

250g pasta

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


Method:

1. In a large pot, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil.

2. Add diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar, oregano, dried basil, and nutmeg.

3. Simmer for 10 minutes.

4. Add fresh basil and cook for 1 minute.

5. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling water.

6. Drain the pasta and add it to the tomato sauce.

7. Serve with Parmesan cheese.
