Toasting fork

Growing up this is what we used to make toast. Ours was made out of fence wire. In winter we made toast in the open fire in our kitchen, one end of the kitchen was just made of tin and had an open fire and wood stove in it. In summer we made toast by opening the wood box where our stove was burning and sticking our bread in there. We also toasted marshmallows at Christmas. We had another toasting utensil for our triangle cut sandwiches, it was made of fence wire also, but instead of prongs had an end on it that we sat our sandwiches in to toast them. The country school we attended also had an open fire which we lit in winter and toasted our sandwiches in during cold winter days at school. Don’t think I’ve ever tasted toast or sandwiches as nice as the ones cooked this way.
