'Tis the season to join Australia's biggest gift-giving event of the year!

The holiday season is a time of giving not just for the family but for charities as well.

What better way to spread cheer than by joining Australia's biggest holiday charity event?

This year, BIG W is taking the spirit of Christmas to a whole new level with a charity event set to wrap the nation in joy and generosity.

Starting Saturday, 7 December, BIG W stores across the country will be bustling with activities from 10 am to 4 pm.

Celebrity and community volunteers, alongside BIG W team members, will roll up their sleeves to wrap gifts at the front of stores.

BIG W’s Wrapathon is not just any gift-wrapping session; it's a chance to be part of a nationwide event to support programs dedicated to ill children and their families.

Among the stars lending their hands to the cause are tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt and children's entertainers DJ Lenny Pearce and Emma 'Memma' Watkins.

Yet the excitement does not stop there.

BIG W's Pagewood store is aiming to smash a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD by attempting for the Fastest Time to Gift-wrap a Box, which currently stands at 30 seconds.

The Wrapathon is more than just breaking records; it's about breaking through the challenges many families face during the festive season.

While most of us are celebrating with loved ones, some families will be spending their holidays in hospital care.

BIG W's charity wrapping paper, designed by the children supported by BIG W's national hospital network, is a colourful testament to the resilience and creativity of these patients.

Available for $5 in-store and online, proceeds of the wrapping paper sales go directly to affected children and their families across the country.

Buyers can also buy $2 fundraising tokens designed by children from the Children's Hospital Network, which are available in BIG W stores until 24 December.

The retailer will also match donations up to $100,000 for its hospital partners.

BIG W's Managing Director Dan Hake emphasised the purpose of the Wrapathon.

'Not only will customers save some time getting their gifts wrapped by local celebrities in a fun community event, but their gold coin donation directly supports Aussie children and families,' Mr Hake shared.

Lleyton Hewitt, a father of three, understood the importance of family time during Christmas.

'Many Aussie families will be spending this time in hospital or undergoing treatment,' he said.

'I encourage Aussies to get involved by simply getting gifts wrapped or purchasing some charity wrap. I'm looking forward to putting my speed skills to the test in the world record attempt!'

DJ Lenny Pearce will be adding a musical twist to the event with Wrap n Rave.

'I'm not a rapper, but I can be a wrapper for a day!' he joked.

'It would be great to have as many Aussie families down to the stores to get their gifts wrapped. For those in Pagewood, come and join our Wrap n Rave!'

The proceeds from sales and Wrapathon donations will benefit children's hospitals and research partners across the country.

These beneficiaries include the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation, Murdoch Research Institute, Perth Children's Hospital Foundation, Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation, and Children's Hospital Foundation.

'For over 21 years, BIG W has raised over $5 million, and we're thrilled to continue this legacy,' Jo Donaldson from the Queensland Children's Hospital Foundation highlighted.

'The funds raised this Christmas help provide essential care and experiences for children from across Queensland.'

So, mark your calendars and join in the festivities for a cause.

Whether you're getting your gifts wrapped or cheering for those attempting a new world record, the BIG Wrapathon will surely bring smiles to many faces this holiday season.
