Tired of cooking the same meals? Bunnings has a $19 trick that could spice things up

An $18.98 find from Bunnings is changing the way Aussies do dinner—yep, really.

What started as a random aisle browse turned into a full-on feast with major ‘food truck vibes’.

Now, it’s flying off shelves everywhere.

The gyros skewer tray, priced at just $18.98, had Aussies raving as it quickly transformed everyday barbecues into restaurant-style meals.

With a sturdy 20cm skewer and a deep tray to catch all the juicy drippings, the simple stainless steel tool became an unexpected star of dinner parties nationwide.

The tray fit snugly under the hood of most gas barbecues, solid fuel smokers, and even conventional ovens—making it a surprisingly versatile kitchen companion.

Once cooked, the skewer could be removed entirely, allowing the sliced meat to be served directly from the tray.

For many, it doubled as a centrepiece, surrounded by toppings like flatbread, salad, and sauces ready to pile on.

Aussie mum Eisha Eisel shared her discovery on social media, calling it the ‘best find’ from Bunnings.

‘I stumbled across a gyros tray at Bunnings and instantly knew we had to make chicken gyros at home,’ she said.

To create the ultimate marinade, Eisha combined Greek yoghurt, olive oil, garlic, paprika, oregano, cumin, onion powder, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

‘I let it sit in the fridge for a few hours to let it soak up all the flavour. I pulled out my gyros tray, popped it together and started stacking my marinated chicken pieces onto the skewer,’ she said.

‘We cooked it low and slow on the barbecue with the lid down for about an hour and a half until it was golden with crispy edges, cooked through.

‘Chicken needs an internal temperature of 70°C to 75°C to be ready. A meat thermometer is really handy when cooking a roast on the BBQ or in the oven.’

Eisha’s finished dish—served with flatbread, chips, salad and garlic yoghurt sauce—won over the whole family.

‘I was honestly so shocked at how juicy it turned out,’ she said.

‘It was packed full of flavour, it really blew me away. It had full food truck vibes at home and everyone loved it.

‘It was hands down one of our favourite dinners.’

Cleanup was surprisingly easy too.

‘We just popped a bit of water into the tray and let it simmer on the barbecue or stovetop for a few minutes. Then everything washes away fairly easily,’ she said.

With a near-perfect 4.8-star rating online, the tray impressed other users with its build, size, and convenience.

‘Simple product but also well-built and serves the purpose. Cooked many gyros and souvlakis on the charcoals, but got this one to use in the oven for a bit more simplicity. Easy to clean and store away. Good size, fits 10 chicken thighs with a potato sitting on the bottom for clearance,’ one shopper wrote.

Another added: ‘Gave this a shot, it's a hit! Great idea and so easy to use and clean.’

Many shared clever tips—like placing an onion at the base to prevent the meat from burning.

‘I bought this too. Skewer half an onion on the bottom and top of the chicken so it doesn't burn and you get all that lovely cooked onion too,’ one shopper shared.

Dozens more said they were eager to add the tray to their shopping list.

‘OMG I’m excited! I can’t wait to buy one,’ one person said.

‘I need to make a trip to Bunnings,’ another added.

‘I need this,’ a third chimed in.
