Tiktok user reveals the ultimate beach hack to keep the sand where it belongs

There’s nothing more Aussie than spending the summer season hitting the beach with your friends and family.

And of course, to truly enjoy the beach, there are a few must-have items such as chairs, umbrellas, portable coolers, towels etc.

However, to our surprise, there is one more thing that all of us have at home that can make our beach trips just that added bit more relaxing.

Anyone would tell you that the biggest turn off when going to the beach is having sand all over your things. The fine scratchy stuff gets towels, on your bags, and even where the sun doesn’t shine! It can be a bit of a nightmare.

Well, worry not, we’re here to share with you a beach hack we’ve come across on TikTok that lets you enjoy your favourite summer activity without falling victim to a scratchy mess, and all you need are two things: a fitted bed sheet and a plastic container!

TikTok user Rachel Austin shared the ingenious hack on her page, showing how she used a fitted bed sheet and a plastic container filled with seawater to keep sand out of their spot.

Setting up the sheet fortress is actually pretty simple. First, lay down the sheet with the garter side up. Then, place one heavy object (could be a backpack, an esky, any container) on the corner of the sheet, pulling it up. Repeat this on every sheet corner until you build a rectangular spot with the walls put up.

For the footbath, Rachel filled the plastic container halfway with seawater (or any water for that matter). This way, any person who enters the sheet fortress would have to first clean their feet with water, removing the sand.

Rachel posted the beach hacks two times on her TikTok page, with both videos going viral. The first clip garnered over 9.5M views while the second one gained around 6.9M views.

Both videos were flooded with comments from users greatly appreciating the beach hack, with some wondering why they hadn’t thought of the idea sooner.
“Wait, this is so smart…” one user wrote.

“I will remember next time; thanks for sharing,” said another.

One beach-goer who already tried the trick also commented and wrote: “We tried this, and it was THE BOMB!!!”

The rest of the comments came from TikTok users tagging their family and friends, reminding them of the hack for their next beach trip.

We think this hack is really clever! The setting up may take some effort, but it's definitely worth a shot if it means sand-free bags and a clean car.

Are you planning any beach trips soon? If you have any other beach hacks, we would love to hear them!
