This woman's carry-on baggage trick will leave you in stitches!

It seems like everyone has a story about being fleeced by airline baggage fees.

Between carry-ons and checked bags, flying can get expensive fast if you need to bring more than a small personal item.

But one viral video is proving that creativity and humour can help travellers beat the system.

Traveler Shewana McGee recently shared her unconventional method for avoiding an airline’s $90 AUD carry-on bag fee.

In her post humorously captioned ‘Brazilian Butt Lift Hack’, McGee successfully sidestepped the charge by concealing her oversized carry-on bag in her pants.

She then added a text in her video that reads: ‘When you're flying Frontier and they say your personal bag is too big.’

Social media users praised her audacity and resourcefulness, with many calling her idea brilliant.

Surprisingly, she managed to get away with it without any questions from the airline staff.

‘I'm hollering! I bet they didn't even question it,’ one person wrote, to which McGee replied ‘Nope’ followed by a series of laughing emojis.

One user commented, ‘Girl, I'm cracking up at this!’ while others declared her trick ‘genius’ and celebrated her as the day's internet victor.

Even more astonishing was the size of the bag, which viewers noted. Some had been charged $100 for similar-sized bags in the past, making McGee's trick seem like a goldmine.

‘I got stopped with this same exact bag and charged the $100, then the flight attendant asked me to put it under the seat. ABSOLUTELY NOT,’ one person shared.

McGee's creativity isn't unique, though. Last year, another traveller received widespread praise for ingeniously packing her belongings into a travel pillow to bypass baggage fees.

But while these hacks might seem clever, it's important to remember the rules and regulations set by airlines for safety and fuel efficiency.

Excess weight on an aeroplane affects fuel requirements and can lead to offloading excess cargo or passengers to maintain safe weight limits.

Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority, for instance, mandates a 7kg carry-on baggage limit per person for safety reasons.

Attempting to bypass these rules can compromise flight safety and lead to boarding hassles due to weight checks.

In conclusion, these inventive solutions to avoid baggage fees may be amusing, but they should be approached with caution.

While they might work in some cases, travellers should always prioritise safety and adhere to airline regulations.

Key Takeaways

  • A woman in the US revealed her trick to avoid paying extra bag fees on a recent flight in a popular social media video.
  • In response to being told she would be charged $65 USD ($90 AUD) for her oversized handbag, Shewana McGee hid the bag in her pants, creating the illusion of a larger behind.
  • Many online viewers found the video amusing and congratulated McGee on her creativity.
  • The method proved successful, and McGee was not charged for her handbag, which she cleverly passed off as part of her outfit.

I don't think it's amusing. I feel concerned. While this trick is avoiding her extra charges she has no concerns for fellow passengers & their safety.

I agree, it’s not amusing, not creative, just selfish. That woman knew that if she was questioned for deception, she’d kick up that she was being discriminated for the size of her butt. Posts like that should not be permitted. She’s just another pathetic person who feels their worth is measured by the amount of attention they receive.

make a pillow out of heavy garments. i did.

Nothing to be proud of, if you absolutely need to take extra baggage do the right thing and pay for it.
If you can't afford it then cut back on how much crap you take.
who said i was proud? i was just thrifty. me thinks i struck a cord. I may also add I do not carry CRAP. Such a shame when one starts assuming.

Mmm,me thinks you have a weird idea of the meaning of thrifty.
You can take 23kgs of luggage, plus 7kgs hand luggage, if that's not enough then as I said do the right thing and declare it
There are safety reasons why there is luggage limit. How would it be if we all decided to be "thrifty'.
Perhaps I'm the one who struck a cord???.

You can justify dishonesty with being thrifty? With that line of thinking, could a shoplifter justify stealing as being thrifty?
