Do you know why dogs sniff each other's butts? One day there was a meeting in a big city, before they entered the hall they had to hang there butts on racks on the wall, during the meeting a fire broke out and all the dogs ran out and grabbed a butt off the rail, now they go around sniffing butts to see if they can find the one which belongs to them.

I've heard that before but still laugh when I read it, it's a good one.

They also have a fascination with urine and spend most of their walks stopping at every bush, tree, post or anything upright. If they don't like it or do like it I am not sure which they give it a spray. In my walks I note that all dogs are either "wee" dogs or "poo"dles or both. Larger dogs also have a habit of walking up to us fellows and having a sniff at the groin which can be disconcerting to owner and recipient.
