One-pot recipes are a lifesaver when you're in the mood for home cooking but don't have the time or the energy to devote to a big preparation and cleanup. Among the most popular one-pot recipes out there (and one of our personal favourites, here at the SDC) is one-pot pasta.
Imagine being able to make an entire pasta dish, from start to finish, in just one pot, without needing to strain the pasta at any point in the process - truly a feat of culinary wizardry!
The perfect solution for those nights when you need to feed yourself or your family but don't feel like breaking a sweat in the kitchen.
Here, we're sharing with you folks an Aussie mum's quick and simple one-pot pasta recipe that was a huge hit among her fellow home cooks on social media!
The mum in question isn’t a professionally trained chef, but after being asked for her recipe over and over again, she eventually relented and revealed her one-pot pasta recipe, which was surprisingly super simple and easy to make!
Here's how you can do it too:

For the ingredients, you will need:
Here are the steps to follow:
First, put your favourite pasta sauce and water on the bottom of a baking dish. The mum didn't say how much, but it's probably best to play it safe and start with a small amount. (We will be adding more later, so don't worry!)
Now comes the part of this recipe that really makes it *stand out*. (sorry, but you know we can’t resist a good pun here at the SDC…)
Put the rigatoni pasta in the pot vertically, as shown in the photo above. Once the pot is full of upright pasta, you can stuff it with whatever you like, such as sundried tomatoes, string cheese, mozzarella, zucchini, or eggplant.
Unlike most one-pot pasta dishes, in which the pasta pieces are just thrown together, these vertical ones are a sight to behold. We bet that even the grandkids will be amazed when they see it for the first time!
After stuffing each tube of pasta with fillings of your choice, simply top the whole thing with your pasta sauce, water, and a generous amount of cheese. Then, bake it in the oven for around 40 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
And voila – you're done! Aside from being a quick, easy, and delicious anytime-of-the-week dinner, we bet this innovative pasta recipe will also be a huge hit at parties!
