Known for serving up a delicious mix of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, GYG is now melding the savoury with the sweet, in an inventive dessert that just might captivate the taste buds everywhere.
This latest offering from GYG is the Nacho Sundae, a concoction that starts with a layer of signature corn chips, coated in a dusting of cinnamon sugar.
This crunchy base is then topped with GYG’s creamy, preservative-free soft serve.
Customers can choose to have their sundae drizzled with either dulce de leche or chocolate sauce, adding a final touch of sweetness to this innovative dessert.
The GYG menu is already a hit with some customers, each having their own favourite dish.
But the brand is confident that this new nacho sundae will quickly rise in the ranks to become a new fan favourite.
Priced at $6.50, the Nacho Sundae is described as the 'ultimate mash-up of sweet and saltiness,' a flavour profile that Aussies can't seem to get enough of.
It will be available in select GYG stores for dine-in, takeaway, drive-thru, and delivery via the GYG app.
But be warned, this dessert is for a limited time only, launching on Tuesday, February 6.
Steven Marks, GYG founder and Co-CEO, revealed that the dessert was inspired by menu customisations made daily by customers.
'The Nacho Sundae is set to become an iconic GYG menu item,' he said.
'When we first tried this menu item in our test kitchen, I genuinely came back to the office and couldn’t stop thinking about it.'
‘We know we have a hit when every single person in our team is raving about a new menu item so we knew we had to launch this summer!’
Marks added that the salty crispiness of the freshly made corn chips paired with the smooth, sweet soft serve and sweet sauces creates a unique flavour combination.
'It’s not a mash-up that you think you want, then you try it and think ‘why didn’t we do this earlier’?' he said.
'I have a feeling this one is going to be a cult classic!'
By combining elements of a classic dessert with their signature Mexican flavours, GYG created a unique dish that could be the next big thing with customers.
