A mum has impressed thousands after sharing her incredible camp setup using Kmart items ahead of the upcoming Easter long weekend. However, one small detail caught the attention of eagle-eyed spectators who said that the mum might be setting herself (and her family) up for danger.
The woman, Kati, posted photos of her ‘Kamping dining room’ on Facebook and shared the various Kmart finds she used to make the setup possible.
‘When you land somewhere between camping and glamping, and it’s made possible by Kmart…This is our “Kamping” dining room,’ she wrote in her post.
The tent included various items from Kmart, such as the Large Modular Storage Drawers ($19), Pantry Labels ($3), Water Container ($22 for a 23-litre container), Portable Charcoal Grill BBQ ($22), Picnic Tables ($15), and tiny logs for seats.
In Kati’s post, the drawers were divided into sections such as ‘meals’, ‘torches and tools’, ‘crockery and cutlery’, ‘snacks’, ‘towels and toiletries’, and ‘first aid’.
Kati stated that while she only started camping this year, she is ‘obsessed with organisation’ and revealed how she couldn’t wait to make sure she and her family were perfectly organised for the holiday.
Many were impressed with the setup, saying that she and her family ‘look like pro campers’ and how ‘awesome’ the interior of the tent looked.
However, some people raised their eyebrows at the fact that Kati stores her portable BBQ and kettle inside the tent.
‘Please don’t use the cooking stove and kettle in the area,’ one wrote.
Another replied: ‘Not sure I would BBQ inside there.’
But Kati quickly leapt to her own defence. She wrote: ‘I said dining room, not kitchen. We don’t cook in here.’
The mum also clarified that she keeps all of the equipment in there so it’s easy and accessible and then takes it outside when they need to cook or boil the kettle.
Others, however, were more concerned about logistics and asked how she manages to transport all the items to and from their home.
‘Curious how you transport the drawers full of stuff? As in, do they stay closed when moving/driving, or do you add stuff when you are setting up camp?’ One asked.
Kati saw this and responded: ‘Just put a band of sticky tape on them, and the drawers won’t come out when transporting.’
However, the vast majority of social media users expressed their awe at how ‘easy’ it was to pack and unpack the dining room setup.
‘Looks amazing! Kmart should use these in their catalogue. It looks that great,’ someone wrote.
In a similar instance, another inspired Kmart shopper came up with a time and space-saving hack for camping trips. Her secret? Kmart’s Large Modular Drawers – the same drawers that Kati used for her dining room setup!
