We all know that kids can be pretty picky eaters, especially when it comes to their packed lunches. As parents, we strive to give them meals that are both nutritious and delicious, but sometimes it feels like an uphill battle.
If you've been looking for some inspiration for fun and tasty lunch ideas that the grandkids will love, then look no further than this mother's recent post.
Emilly Lowe, from Melbourne, shared a photo of her homemade 'rainbow Freddo Frogs' – a colourful twist on the classic chocolate frogs that have been popular in Australia for many years.
To make the special dessert, you'll need:
Fortunately, you can buy similar products from almost any kitchenware store or online retailer these days!
To start, Emilly made five separate versions of the chocolate mixture to pour into the mould by melting three squares of white chocolate, adding in some food colouring (a different colour in each bowl), and some cooking oil before piping it in.
Emilly repeated this process several times until she had used up all her colourful chocolate mixtures.
As an added tip, it is recommended that white chocolate used for baking not be too overly sweet and have a colour that is pale yellow or ivory.
For the backs of each frog, she simply added 100s and 1000s sprinkles into melted white chocolate before piping it in the last of the mixture because – let's face it – what kid doesn't love sprinkles?
Once they were finished setting in the freezer overnight (or for at least two hours), they were ready to eat!
Emilly said her children were 'overjoyed' by the simple snack and she couldn't wait to make them again soon; nor could others who praised her innovative effort online!
‘They look delicious, I can’t wait to try this out!’, one mum said.
‘I’m reporting this to Cadbury,’ another joked.
But what if you run out of white chocolate? No problem, because this video below shows how to make white chocolate — and without cocoa butter!
