This Kmart shopper's game-changing camping and caravanning hack will save you hours of packing

Camping enthusiasts will tell you that the best part about being out in nature is enjoying the great outdoors while being unbothered by the stresses of everyday life. But packing for a camping or caravan trip can be an absolute nightmare – it can take hours to sort out all the essentials, let alone figure out how to store them effectively.

So, if you enjoy outdoor activities like hiking or camping but dread having to pack for your trips, then this hack might just be the solution you need.

An inspired Kmart shopper has come up with a time and space-saving hack for your next camping trip – and what's more, it's so ingenious, it's gone viral on social media.

Sharing to a popular Facebook page, the mum revealed how she invested in Kmart’s Large Modular Drawers to create a storage space for all her camping needs.

She said that keeping all your family's camping items – such as food, cooking utensils, first aid, towels, and cleaning supplies – properly organised in labelled boxes can save you hours in pack-up time, as you can simply move the boxes from the garage to the car when you're ready to go.

‘After spending most weekends last year working on our house, I decided 2023 will be dedicated to camping and exploring,’ the mum wrote in her post.

She continued: ‘Being the perfectionist I am, I had to come up with a storage solution that was easily accessible and still allowed room for tents, sleeping bags etc. Enter the Kmart large modular drawers. Everything stays packed and ready to go (besides the food).’

The mum also shared photos to show how the boxes easily fit in the back of her car and their family’s garage.

‘So handy and easy to transport from the garage to the car,’ she claimed.

The mum also labelled each drawer to make it easier to find certain items.

According to the product description, Kmart’s Large Modular Storage Drawer, which retails for $19, is made from polypropylene – a thermoplastic that’s used in packaging consumer products as well as in plastic parts for textiles.

It is a ‘versatile storage solution for your bedroom, laundry, kitchen, or living space’ or other organisational purposes. The large size measures 20.4 cm (H) x 40 cm (W) x 40 cm (D) and has a maximum weight capacity of 4kg.

The mum went on to explain that the drawers don’t come loose while in the boot, as they’d have ‘tents, camping chairs etc. all packed tightly up against them so can’t move or open when we actually travel’.

The advice was praised by other social media users, with many claiming that they’ll give the hack a go on their next camping trip.

‘Oh, we just bought a caravan, and this is perfect!’ One revealed.

‘What a great idea,’ another replied.

A third said that the idea was ‘next level’. ‘Want this, need this, saved this, and hopefully won’t forget this!’ They added.

‘I love this! We have just started going camping as a family of four, and this makes me happy!’ One explained.

Years ago, my sister used to take a light timber set of drawers from home to use for camping with her family of seven children and two adults. She would allot one drawer for clothing, beach towels, bathers, to each family member. This system worked for her wonderfully.
