This KFC meal is shocking people online – do you see why?

One Aussie woman has shared on Facebook that she made her mother-in-law a special KFC meal box for her birthday – given that the older woman is obsessed with everything KFC.

As you can see in the picture below, the meal box consisted of a bucket of chips, three chicken pieces, and a mouthwatering gravy sauce on the side.

Seems pretty normal for a birthday celebration, don't you think?

Turns out, what you see in the photo below is not what it seems!

While it looks like it could be a homemade version of the famous fast food, the meal box is actually something else entirely – believe it or not, it’s a birthday cake!

Yes, you read that right, members. That box of chicken and chips is actually made from sweet cake. And you better believe that pot of gravy isn't gravy, either!

On a Facebook page, Teagan from South Australia shared that she made the chicken-and-chips cake for her mother-in-law's birthday this year.

"This is my attempt at the KFC cake hack!" she wrote in her post. "She and everyone else loved it."

To make the hyper-realistic KFC cake, Teagan used a $4.80 vanilla mud cake from Coles as her base, cutting it and forming out several chips and chicken shapes.

To make the fried chicken cake more realistic, she added Betty Crocker icing on top and covered them in crushed cornflakes, giving it a crispy and crunchy look without the actual frying.

And that pot of gravy? It was made from whipped cream topped with caramel sauce!

Well, as for the boxes, they're actually made of cardboard and not cake. But Teagan revealed that her local KFC was happy to help with her creation, providing her with the boxes for free.

Needless to say, Teagan's mother-in-law was not the only one who was surprised at the revelation. Many fellow members of the Facebook group were left with their jaws on the floor after seeing how realistic the cake was.

"I think my brain would be confused if eating it, it looks so much like the real thing!" one user wrote in the comments.

"I struggle to not see actual KFC. That’s crazy good," added another.

Last month, we also wrote about another seemingly normal food item that has taken social media by storm. It was also a hyper-realistic cake made by two Aussie bakers – and you would never believe that it was a cake at first sight!
