This easy DIY project will transform a $12 Kmart tray into a designer-inspired side table!

If you're a fan of affordable home decor, then you're probably already familiar with Kmart. But have you ever thought about taking their products to the next level?

With a little bit of creativity and some inexpensive materials from your local hardware store, you can transform a simple Kmart tray into a stunning designer-inspired side table that's uniquely your own.

And the best part? It will only cost you around $80!

Sydney-based mum Brooke Puletua recently gave us a sneak peek into her genius DIY project. She crafted a stunning side table using a mix of materials she had at home and some budget-friendly buys from her local Kmart and Bunnings.

'For the majority of my products, I try to ensure I use what I have to save money and be more effective on cost,' the mum-of-five said.

Thanks to Brooke, we now have our own step-by-step guide so that we can all join in on the designer-look side table fun.

You can start this project by gathering five bricks, Liquid Nails Adhesive Fast Grab Glue, Davco's Cement-Based Tile Adhesive, Gyprock Australia's Plaster, and Kmart's Round Terrazzo Tray.

You will also need Exterior Low Sheen White Paint and Rust-Oleum Clear Spray Paint.

Simply stack the five bricks flat on top of one another and secure them together using glue – Brooke used a mix of brown bricks and then made them white using a lot of plaster.

Paint the Kmart tray upside down so it looks like a chic tabletop, then if desired, add a few extra styling details.

For a special touch, Brooke also added a large cement clamshell she purchased from Pillow Talk and a decorative candle.

The result is an exquisite piece of furniture that looks like a designer made it but only costs a fraction of the price!

Looks horrible!

maybe for outdoors. Known people to pile bricks or blocks on top of each other with a piece for top, but inside? Dangerous if not mortared in between. But looks really rough. hardly designer.

Come on people no reason to be rude. Like the saying goes if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.
I am not a fan of it, but obviously the lady loves it.
