After 15 years of service with ABC, finance guru Elysse Morgan recently announced her retirement from the public broadcaster in a very special way.
It was confirmed in early December that Morgan would be joining the major investment firm, Stafford Capital Partners, where she will be working with superannuation funds in Australia from early 2023.
Speaking to a news outlet, chairman of Stafford Capital Partners, Brett Himbury, shared his joy of having Morgan onboard.
'Elysse Morgan has been investigating and interrogating businesses and business leaders in this country on ABC TV for over a decade,' he said.
'The fact that Elysse is attracted to building the Stafford business in the Australian market is a great outcome. In addition, Elysse's role as a trustee director and her deep involvement in superannuation give rise to her bringing a truly unique experience set.'
Morgan, who admitted that the opportunity to work with Stafford was 'irresistible', was equally excited.
'I want to be part of the solution to the climate change challenge, and Stafford is one of the biggest investors in carbon-reducing forestry plantations on the planet,' she said.
'I look forward to joining an organisation with a great culture and strong track record in delivering superior returns across private equity, private debt, timber and infrastructure.'
And goodbyes, as we all know, are often the most difficult part of any chapter in life.
Naturally, Morgan wanted to make sure she gave ABC and its viewers a memorable send-off.
In her final report on Monday night, she cleverly segued her goodbye into her job report, highlighting ABS data which revealed Australia had just recorded the first time people quitting their jobs outpaced the people who were sacked.
'After 15 years at the ABC, I'm one of them – leaving voluntarily, that is,' she said with a cheeky smile.
'I'm going to go and do finance – And that's finance.'
And just like that, she made it known that she was stepping away from the limelight! It was both a humbling and proud moment, as a few tears were shed behind the scenes.
We'd like to thank Morgan for her hard work at ABC and wish her all the very best in her career at Stafford Capital Partners.
Good luck, and we will miss you!
