We have to admit: having our rubbish bins out in the open can be an unpleasant sight – especially for those who separate their rubbish. It’s twice the eyesore!
Not to mention, exposed bins can also attract the attention of pets and pests, leaving your home exposed to potential disasters like spillages or infestations like ants.
That is probably why hundreds of Kmart shoppers are jumping on board this popular upcycling hack!

“Jumped on the Laundry hamper turned rubbish bins bandwagon and absolutely love it!” one person shared on the group. “I will be adding kid-safety latches today as my toddler is obsessed with opening them but yes, these are great! I have one side for cans/bottles and the other for rubbish.”
Since the original Kmart item already has a built-in latch and pull-down cabinet doors, all that’s left to do is to replace the baskets with plastic rubbish bins. In fact, some people don’t even replace theirs, they just simply cover the baskets with garbage bags!
Another person made a much more customised version of rubbish bins from the Kmart item. They repainted the cabinet to match the colour palette of their kitchen, then they added an oak box on top for additional storage.
Many people were also commending how this hack “hides” their rubbish bins in plain sight!

However, some shoppers are complaining that they can’t seem to grab one of these cabinets anywhere.
“They are always out of stock,” said one person, while another ranted that they have been trying to order two of these items for months but to no avail.
Another desperate shopper said, "They are always out of stock. Can’t wait till they come back In. Such a great space-saving idea."
