This $45 Kmart product is causing a panic among shoppers

Everyone loves a good bargain, and as a member of the Seniors Discount Club, you know the thrill of finding a great deal. It's satisfying to purchase products that make our lives more comfortable and enjoyable.

But what happens when that bargain buy turns out to be potentially dangerous? Or so it seems…

This brings us to an intriguing new item available at Kmart, which has generated both amusement and fear among shoppers. Introducing the $45 Kmart Fire Aroma Diffuser, designed with fake flames emanating from a sleek black casing.

After this product surfaced on social media, it quickly captured the attention of one shopper, who promptly shared a screenshot in a popular Kmart Facebook group. Interestingly, the diffuser bore a striking resemblance to a well-known kitchen appliance.

The amazed shopper couldn't resist sharing her thoughts in the post, stating, 'I had to share this because it's just too funny. Doesn't this look like a toaster on fire to anyone else?'

Kmart describe their one-of-a-kind diffuser as providing a 'fireplace ambience' indoors. It creates a visual flicker of flames using a combination of a fine mist and orange light, intriguing shoppers and sparking numerous reactions.

Many Kmart fans were fooled by the ad, with several saying at first glance they believed the photo was depicting an urgent recall for faulty toasters.

'My Kmart toaster started smoking the other day and looked very similar to that. I thought yours did the same thing,' one person commented. 'It looks like it can set the house on fire,' another added.

'I had to re-read [the description] because I wasn't sure I had read it correctly,' a third shared.

'The only aroma out of that is BURNING TOAST,' another went on to say.

On the other hand, some shoppers praised the product and recommended others to give it a try.

'They do look quite effective. My boss has one in his office, and it looks amazing!' a shopper enthused.

However, some homeowners voiced their concerns about the potential scare the product might cause. 'Yes, my daughter has one, and it's horrific. I worry that the neighbours are going to see it 'burning when on at night and then the fire brigade [will] rock up!' another wrote, half-jokingly.

Kmart's website states that the diffuser's purpose is to 'create an aromatic, soothing atmosphere in your home’. It comes with an in-built mist, light selections, and various timer options.

The product has received only five-star reviews on Kmart's website. One customer shared that her husband was fooled by the fake flames and felt the urgent need to 'extinguish' it.

'Don't walk; run to get this diffuser. It is amazing,' the customer wrote. 'It really looks like flames are coming out the top. Had to tell hubby it is supposed to look like this.'

Another happy customer shared, 'I was so happy after many years of searching for something that resembled a fire to fit into our very small iron fireplace & surround. This item fits perfectly & creates the ambience.'

Key Takeaways

  • Kmart has released a unique diffuser that creates a fireplace ambience indoors with a visual flicker of flames.
