This ‘unsafe’ Kmart product has shoppers on high alert!

We all want the best for our families and, when it comes to safety, it’s not something any of us are willing to skimp on.

Kmart shoppers are the latest to take the issue of product safety seriously, with reports of a popular children’s drink bottle exploding and leaving behind dangerously sharp pieces of plastic.

It seems that a seemingly harmless product from Kmart has had more than a few people online concerned after some pretty worrying reports of it being unsafe.

A concerned mum recently took to social media after her 3-year-old son dropped his 1L Spider-Man drink bottle that smashed into dangerous sharp pieces of polystyrene plastic.

She wrote: 'Just a bit of a PSA, my son who's three was carrying this—it was only one-third full. He dropped it on our tile floor, and it broke immediately, it didn't bounce or roll around, it just smashed. Please be careful.'

The woman shared that Kmart should have all bottles like the one her son had dropped (which is part of the official Spider-Man merchandise range) ‘recalled,’ and she doesn't want any replacements.

A Kmart spokesperson responded: ‘We are currently reaching out to this customer so that we can fully investigate. The safety of our customers is always our priority.’

The woman’s post was flooded with scores of comments from others, all seemingly having the same problem and noting that the smashed bottles left ‘very sharp edges’ scattered around within hours of purchase.

One shopper said, ‘You get what you pay for,’ referring to the $7 item. While most comments shared concerns about the ‘unsafe’ product marketed to children who tend to drop objects easily.

Another claimed, ‘We had one, and it did the same but exploded as my grandson picked it up off the bench. Our Kmart store wouldn't do anything about it.’

‘Ours did the same, dropped and smashed on [the] carpet! We'd only had it for two days,’ said one annoyed customer.

Another said that her daughter's Kmart Star Wars drink bottle broke when she put it down on a counter, which she found out is made out of the same material as the Spider-Man bottle.

Another person claiming to be a childcare worker said she ‘has yet to see one of the bottles last morning’.

So, remember that you should always check a product carefully before you purchase, even if it's regularly stocked on shelves–it's better to be safe than sorry.

I’m going into the glassware dept and pick up some glasses and drop them on the floor if they break I will not buy how silly the statement “buyer beware “

MPV is that 'buyer beware' is very appropriate for this story....these drink bottles are marketed for the use by very young children, whom we all know have a propensity to drop bottles when carrying them or even when just standing still. They obviously have very sharp edges when broken and pose a great risk of doing harm to young children. They should be recalled by KMart asap.

Bazb.
.....hope that you are prepared to pay for the glassware that you deliberately destroy in the shop.
