These items could put you at risk: Recent recalls affect Byron Bay sweet treats and Father’s Day mugs
Have you recently bought sweet treats or a special gift for Father’s Day? If you did, don’t skip this article because we’ve encountered two recalls that could put you or your loved one at risk.
For our first recall, a popular snack with two heavenly flavours sold at Woolworths stores was just recalled due to contamination fears.
Byron Bay Superfoods’ Wallaby Cookie Dough Bites in flavours Double Chocolate Hazelnut and Chocolate Macadamia have potentially been contaminated with milk.
These treats are advertised as being keto-friendly, vegan, and gluten-free.
The product recall notice on the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) website stated that anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed.
Now, if you’ve already purchased these treats, don’t worry—you still have a chance to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
This recall applies to all cookie dough bites with a best-before date up to and including September 21, 2024. They are sold at Woolworths and at select health food stores in New South Wales and South Australia.
If you need more information about the product recall, then contact Byron Bay Superfoods at (02) 6687 2221 or visit their website.
Meanwhile, another recall has been issued by Product Safety Australia (PSA) for Splosh Australia mugs.
Shoppers were warned that several mugs sold internationally and online by Splosh Australia (both black ‘Super Dad’ and blue ‘My favourite child gave me this mug’) could cause serious injury and should be recalled immediately.
It has been revealed that when filled with hot liquids, the mugs might crack and break, leaving users at risk of 'burns and lacerations from the sharp edges’.
The potentially dangerous items were available for purchase between June 25 and September 8 this year at nearly 400 stores throughout the nation, including some Terry White Chemmart and Nextra outlets.
It is recommend you take the mugs back to the shop for a full refund.
For more information, contact Splosh Australia on 07 3805 4718, Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
It's a pattern like this that encourages us all to be extra vigilant when buying sweet treats and gifts, both for ourselves and for our families.
If something seems a bit off, it's best to err on the side of caution and do some more research or find a different option.
