There's a lot to love about chalk paint! It's easy to work with, it doesn't require any prep work (no prior sanding!), and it gives your furniture a beautiful, modern, matte finish. And there are so many colours to choose from!
Speaking of renovations, did you know that you can use chalk paint to give your couch a makeover?
You read that right, folks! Apparently, the crafty item can also be used to redesign fabric, including the fabric on your couch. We must admit that we're also surprised to find this random fun fact as we thought chalk paints can only be applied on surfaces such as wood!
A Kmart shopper has taken to Facebook to share how she managed to transform her couch using the retailer's $7 chalk paint.
Posting photos of her couch transformation, the shopper revealed that she only used the rose pink and rust variety of the chalk paint that she purchased from her local Kmart store.

'My latest project using Kmart chalk paint,' she wrote in the caption of the photos.
The post has captured the attention of thousands of users, with many expressing their amazement and disbelief over the use of the crafty product on fabric.
One person wrote: 'On fabric? That's amazing.'
'Very impressive!' one exclaimed.
Many folks questioned whether the paint would crack if they sat on the couch.
One user asked: 'Will it not crack when you sit on it?'
'I was thinking exactly the same thing,' another agreed.
The original poster replied to these comments, confirming that the paint applied well to the fabric.
'No, you paint on really thin coats with water and softener and it becomes like fabric,' she explained.

Others took the opportunity to ask the woman about some technical things about the painting process.
One curious commenter inquired: 'Did you mix the fabric softener in with the paint?'
The woman replied: 'Yes, about a fifth of the bag in with the two jars of paint and some water.'
Another asked: 'Did you have to wash it after or before?' to which the original poster replied with: 'No, washing but I think I may go over it now with a sanding sponge and then a final coat.'
For a few of you who have not tried using chalk paint before, here are a few tips to help you get the best results:
1. Start with a clean surface. Chalk paint will adhere to just about any surface, but for the best results, you should start with a clean, smooth surface. If your furniture is particularly dirty or greasy, you may want to give it a light sanding before you start painting.
2. Choose the right brush. A natural bristle brush will give you the best results with chalk paint. Synthetic brushes can leave behind streaks or brush marks.
3. Apply the paint in thin layers. It's better to apply several thin layers of paint than to try to get away with one thick layer. Allowing each layer of paint to dry completely before adding another will give you the best results.
4. Distress the paint if desired. Chalk paint is perfect for creating a distressed finish. To distress the paint, simply sand away some of the top layers of paint after it has dried.
5. Seal the paint. To protect your chalk paint finish, you'll need to seal it with a clear sealer. Wax is a popular option, but you can also use polyurethane or another clear sealer. Keep in mind this advice isn’t specifically for fabric furniture so you might have to experiment to find the right sealer or just roll the dice and hope!
