The Queen is in ‘very good form’ and is looking forward to spending holidays with loved ones this year

Following an overnight stay in hospital on the advice of royal doctors, the Queen has fully rested and is ‘totally committed’ to hosting Christmas at Sandringham.

Last week, Her Majesty underwent medical tests and spent a night at London’s King Edward VII’s Hospital. The palace cancelled all of her working visits for the next two weeks.

The 95-year old monarch is currently at Windsor Castle and is keen to host a festive gathering at her Norfolk home.

“This year, more than ever, it is incredibly important to Her Majesty to be surrounded by her loved ones,” said a royal insider.

“The Queen is totally committed to hosting everyone as she hopes to make it back to full health in the coming weeks.”

“After being forced to cancel a host of engagements, the family get-together will be the perfect tonic.”

According to UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, the Queen was ‘in very good form’ during their weekly conversation earlier this week.

“I spoke to Her Majesty as I do every week as part of my job and she was in very good form,” Johnson said in an interview.

Their most recent conversation took place virtually on Wednesday.

“She has been told by her doctors that she has got to rest and I think we have got to respect that and understand that and everybody wishes her all the very best,” Johnson said.

Reports said that Her Majesty will also skip the Festival of Remembrance on November 13 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The event was intended to honour the British and Commonwealth men and women who have fought wars, disasters, and pandemics to protect and defend the nation.

However, Buckingham Palace stated that the Queen is firmly intent on attending the Remembrance ceremony on Sunday, November 14, in Central London.

“Following on from their recent advice that the Queen should rest for a few days, Her Majesty's doctors have advised that she should continue to rest for at least the next two weeks,” said the statement.

“The doctors have advised that Her Majesty can continue to undertake light, desk-based duties during this time, including some virtual audiences [the receiving of ambassadors], but not to undertake any official visits.”

“Her Majesty regrets that this means she will be unable to attend the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday, November 13.”

“However, it remains The Queen's firm intention to be present for the National Service of Remembrance on Remembrance Sunday, on November 14,” they concluded.
