Kacie Stephens, the mum behind the cleaning company The Big Clean Co based in Melbourne, shared her tips and tricks on how to do a full-house cleaning on TikTok.

One video uploaded by the cleaning pro, shows her doing a complete clean of an empty rental property. Once she arrives at the designated spot to be cleaned, she brings out her go-to tool kit: her favourite dishwashing liquid, some snacks and of course, a speaker so she can play her favourite tunes and make cleaning that much more fun!

Her business routine begins with her clearing out cobwebs and inspecting the property, to ensure that she has quoted correctly.

Once she’s done checking, she gets to work. According to the professional cleaner, you should always start cleaning wet areas around the house first, such as the kitchen.

Most of the time, our kitchens are the greasiest area of the house, and grease needs some thorough soaking to be properly cleaned. So by starting at the kitchen, you can save yourself a lot of time and effort by letting the greasy appliances soak while you go to work on other parts of the house.

“Dwell time saves scrub time, people!” as Kacie puts it.

When cleaning a specific area, she recommends moving from top to bottom and going around the room in circles so that you don’t miss a corner or a spot. “Don’t go up and down like a yo-yo, you put unnecessary pressure on your back!”

Continuing her process of focusing on the wetter areas of the house first, she then moves to the bathroom, using a glass cleaning on the shower doors.

She also uses the same solution to clean the glass windows around the house.

Once she’s done with the wet areas of the house, she proceeds to the dry areas by vacuuming the floor to gather any dust or cobwebs that might have accumulated. Then, she finishes by giving it a thorough mopping.

After she’s done with every window, every floor, and every room, she completes her cleaning by doing an entire walkthrough of the house to make sure she hasn’t missed out on any hidden mess. Nothing worse than the “wrath of the property manager”.

Kacie has been featured quite a few times here at the SDC because we love her cleaning tips, such as her tip on dealing with a smelly kitchen, and the one popular cleaning myth that does more harm than good.

Aside from us, fans of the professional cleaner have rushed to social media to praise her for her amazing tips and cleaning advice.

As a retired cleaner with my own business, I would start spraying the bathroom and toilet first, then all bedrooms, shutting the door as I go along, then bathroom and WC. Then proceed to the kitchen, dining and lounge, Once completed, a walk through opening doors and making sure nothing was left behind and all was thoroughly cleaned.
