The name game: Parents-to-be are already arguing about their baby's identity. Which side are you on?

AIBU, which stands for 'Am I Being Unreasonable', is the perfect platform for sharing your thoughts and opinions! So, for today's AIBU discussion, we have this story from Reddit/throwaway719201

Will I be unreasonable if I give my daughter an 'outdated' name?

'I (32F) am currently seven months pregnant and we were told by the doctor that it's going to be a girl, so me and my husband (33M) have been thinking of names until we decided on a name we like, we decided to name her "Audrey" and when I told everyone at the baby shower, one of my sisters told me it was an "outdated name" and that she'd get bullied for having a name like that (which is funny because she wanted to name her daughter "Ashhliegh" pronounced as "Ashley" before her husband stopped her)

After a while of her making comments about the name we eventually just kicked her out of the shower and I blocked her on all social media's when she kept messaging me telling me to change the name

So would it be unreasonable if I name my daughter Audrey?'

Not in the least! Audrey is a lovely name! Just think of Audrey Hepburn.. that's a lovely role model :) Audrey Meadows, though I'd have loved to have seen her swat Ralph to the moon! LOL! Audrey Landers, read her bio, she's done some amazing stuff :) Audrey Tautou, who played Amelie in the movie of the same name. There are more, of course, but I think Audrey is a timeless name

Absolutely nothing to do with ANYONE else!
That’s what’s wrong with the world today.
Everyone sticking their nose into everyone else’s business.
All these do gooders who tell us how to bring up your kids, what to eat, how to speak etc etc etc..
The world was much better before these woke generations came along and started removing discipline from society.
Look at the world we have today..
Just need to watch the nightly news to see what lack of discipline and consequences for actions does.
Everyone & especially the government mind your own f**##ing business!

Love the name and at least it is spelt correctly. The fact that sister couldn't spell her own child's name (Ashhliegh" - bless you - oh I thought it was a sneeze!)) should be a sure indicator to disregard anything the sister has to contribute!

Do NOT worry about the age of the name.
My name derived from the ages before Christ was born and is believedd to have come from the Roman Family Antonius
At school i wasn't fond of the name Anthony but as years went on many of the kids consider me to be a school hero and have told me that so often. It became a little emnarrassing but the truth was that I loved going back to boarding school after every holiday.
The kids followed me and we were all great friends.
So Audrey will be great also, if you tell her how great her name is... and if she is not embarrassed then people (Particully her school friends) will love her.
