As a nation, Australia has many cultural icons that bring us together - from Tim Tams and AFL to Vegemite and Ugg boots. But there’s one beloved retailer that stands out among the rest – Bunnings.
Almost every Aussie knows and loves the home improvement warehouse, renowned for its sausage sizzles and extensive range of DIY supplies.
One proud WA couple decided to get on board the Bunnings bandwagon and threw their three-year-old son an unforgettable Bunnings-themed birthday party - complete with a sausage sizzle, pot plant station, tiny uniforms and a jumping castle!
Shay and her husband, Ray, wanted to make sure their son Remy had a birthday to remember.
On March 11th, 30 family members and friends were invited to their Perth home for the backyard party.
To add a little extra spice to the celebration, Shay ordered a variety of Bunnings-branded merchandise to be shipped from Queensland, including uniforms for the kids, volleyballs, soccer balls, party hats, toys, and lolly bags - costing around $600!
'My son Remy is Bunnings obsessed (just like his dad) and points them out as we drive. It was fun to put together to party,' Shay shared.
The couple set up a pot plant station, a painting station and a play dough station (with printed Bunnings-themed cutters) - giving the guests a taste of the full Bunnings experience!
They also had a jumping castle and trampoline.
No birthday party is complete without cake, and Shay's Bunnings-themed celebration was no exception!
A talented friend of Shay's baked a delicious and creatively designed Bunnings-themed cake that was a hit among all the young party guests.
And to give everyone a true Aussie backyard vibe, what better way to feed the guests than to host a sausage sizzle?
The mum remarked: 'The highlight was seeing how excited the adults were to be there. I secretly think they enjoyed it more than the children!'
After Shay threw her child a Bunnings-themed birthday party, she shared some video clips of the celebration on TikTok. Her oldest child, Sienna, thrilled by the party’s theme, also appeared in the video.
Within a few days of being posted, the video went viral, receiving high praise from Australians online and garnering over 200,000 views.
One user wrote: 'I'm 27 and want a Bunnings-themed party for myself.’
'Obsessed, I want this to be my birthday theme this year too,' another commented.
Some expressed their desire to go to a Bunnings-themed party in the future.
One comment read: 'I want an invite (just for the snags).'
