One day, Chantel decided to debut a secret weapon: an exceptional yet simple DIY solution for a homemade kitchen spray.

This concoction is suitable for most kitchen finishes and boasts a brilliant talent for cutting through the stubbornest grease and oil messes.

Chantel's magic spray consists of the following:
  • A cup full of water
  • 1 teaspoon each of dish soap
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice or lemon essential oil
Simply pop all of these ingredients into a spray bottle, and give it a shake, and you've just made your kitchen's new best friend!

Chantel said, ‘This spray is suitable for most kitchen finishes, but if you have marble benchtops leave out the lemon juice as it may be too acidic.’

Now, let's dive deeper and discover some other tricks Chantel has up her sleeve.

According to Chantel's advice, here's how you can make your own floor-cleaning solution:
  • 3 cups hot water
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tsp dish soap
  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol (optional; this helps floors dry faster and leaves them streak-free, but it may not be suitable for all floor types)
  • 10 drops essential oil (optional; for fragrance)
Stir the mixture well in a bucket and mop your floors with this solution, leaving them shining and your entire home smelling delightful.

Are you tired of the relentless dust that seems to be in cahoots with gravity and keeps you in a dusting loop?

Check out Chantel's homemade dust-repellent spray; it promises a dust-free home for longer than you'd expect.

Chantel says you will need the following:
  • A spray bottle
  • 1 cup of water
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 4 drops of lemon oil (to protect and polish wooden furniture)

Before using the dust-repellent spray, shake the bottle well to ensure proper mixing of the ingredients.

Next, dampen a microfibre cloth with the spray and use it to wipe down dusty areas.

However, performing a patch test first is essential to ensure compatibility with the surfaces you intend to clean.

The beauty of these DIY solutions extends beyond just cleanliness and stretching your dollar.

They also play a significant role in reducing the chemical footprint in our homes, contributing to a healthier environment.

I'll stick to my favourite. Found it on SDC and find it super dooper.
White vinegar, squirt of dish wash liquid (hand washing kind) and a squirt of dish washer rinse aid. Into a spray bottle (I use 250ml), shake my booty, and spray, wipe pretty much everything I want. So far, so good.

My mum used a variety of bicarb, lemon juice, lemon skins with salt, vinegar and homemade soap for various stains, grit and grime, and a lot of elbow grease. I've been using the same items for 73 years, works a treat and mother earth loves me for it 😀
