The Crown is on the lookout for a Kate Middleton doppelganger to star in its final season

Netflix’s controversial yet well-loved series, The Crown, is looking for an actress to play Kate Middleton in their final season.
If you haven’t gotten the chance to watch the series yet, it revolves around the story of Queen Elizabeth II, including the political and personal events that shaped her reign.
Each season spans approximately a decade, the first one starting off with Queen Elizabeth’s marriage to the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip– all the way to season five and six which will cover the Queen’s reign into the 21st century.

Unsurprisingly, the series completely took the world by storm after the release of its fourth season back in November 2020, wherein we first get a glimpse of the beloved, Princess Diana.
According to Parrot Analytics, the demand for "The Crown" during the week after season four's release was 85% higher than the same time period after season three, adding: "Incredible year-on-year growth for an already very popular series."
Princess Diana’s season won the hearts of so many that it reached an all-time high of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes’ critic score.
Insider wrote: “The demand for ‘The Crown’ season four peaked at 83 times that of the average TV series in the US. The first three seasons never reached 50.”

This coming November, the award-winning series is set to release its fifth season, featuring Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ marriage breakdown and eventually, her tragic death– with Australian Actress, Elizabeth Debicki, taking on the role of Princess Diana going forward.
"Princess Diana's spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many.” Debicki said.

In preparation for the following and final season (the sixth season), producers have put out a casting call for actors to play the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. However, her role may be relatively small, with insiders saying she’ll only be featured if they find a mind-boggling lookalike.
Initially, producers set the fifth season to be The Crown’s final one, but they ended up changing their minds and switching back to their original plan of releasing a total of six seasons.
Season six is set to cover the royal family from 1997 to the early 2000s, including the moment when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge meet at St. Andrew’s University.
One television insider mentioned: “Having the Duchess of Cambridge starring is an easy win for The Crown, as the creators know it will get more people watching."
They went on to explain that since the Duchess is not exactly a ‘crucial’ part of the wider storyline, her appearance is being treated more as a ‘bonus’.
“They'll only cast someone if they can find the right candidate.” the source shared.

Aside from a Kate Middleton lookalike, the producers are also on the lookout for actors to play Prince William (from ages 16-21) and Prince Harry (from ages 16-20).
They are actively looking for actors who have a strong physical resemblance to the three royal figures, more so than those who have experience in acting.
Shooting for the final season of the highly anticipated Netflix series is set to begin in August this year.
