The company that makes the 'World's Best Chocolate' has a big surprise

Not too long ago, we were delighted to hear about the launch of Tony's Chocolonely, the Dutch chocolate brand that has been taking Europe by storm right here in Australia.

The delicious bars, which are full of sensational flavours like Milk Caramel Sea Salt and Milk Chocolate, hit the shelves of Woolworths and Coles back in May, and after just six months, the brand has some exciting news: Tony's Chocolonely has collaborated with another company to bring Aussies a limited edition treat!

Ben & Jerry’s, a fan favourite among ice cream lovers, and Tony’s Chocolonely, hailed as the ‘World’s Best’ chocolate brand, have come together to delight our taste buds with a Tony's Chocoloney-themed tub!

As part of their unique partnership, they’ve also made a commitment to ending child labour in the cocoa industry.

Ben & Jerry’s and Tony’s Chocolonely sweetened the deal by producing two bars of chocolate inspired by Ben & Jerry's most famous ice cream flavours and a new ice cream flavour!

Say hello to Chocolatey Love A-Fair, the newly released flavour based on Tony's extremely popular Milk Caramel Sea Salt bar.

The two new Tony’s bars, on the other hand, are inspired by Ben & Jerry’s Strawberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream flavours.

Ben & Jerry's has been making a concerted effort to stop modern slavery and child labour in the chocolate industry, and to that end, have joined forces with Tony's Chocolonely to bring us these tasty treats for a good cause.

The ice cream brand has also begun to transition its ice cream portfolio to Tony's Open Chain, prioritising the cocoa in its ice cream base mix.

Ben & Jerry's Australia and New Zealand Country Manager Sean Farrell spoke of his delight at the collaboration.

'As one of the world's leading ice cream brands, we are not resting on our laurels and have been looking at ways to tackle issues plaguing the global cocoa supply chain,’ he said.

‘Ben & Jerry's is proud to be driving change through various initiatives we've launched over the years, including joining hands with Tony's Chocolonely to support their mission in ending modern slavery in the chocolate industry.’

‘We are thrilled to bring this to Australian shores and think our fans will not only love our new Chocolatey Love A-Fair ice cream but support the meaning behind the partnership too,’ Farrell added.

Since Tony's Chocolonely landed in Australia six months ago, people have been testing it out to see what makes this chocolate bar popular. Some have called it the ‘nicest chocolate ever’ and ‘10 times better than Cadbury.’ You can check this story here.

Melbourne-based food reviewer AngeEats said, ‘This is the best chocolate I’ve ever eaten.’

‘One of the best chocolates out,’ said another.

A third wrote, ‘So much better than any Australian chocolate.’

Another person said, ‘Love this chocolate. Every time I’ve been to Europe the last few years, I bring back a few bars.’

But others comment on the chocolate bar’s hefty price.

One commenter said, ‘I enjoyed this chocolate, but will buy when it’s on sale.’

Another said, ‘It’s really good but not worth the price.’

‘If I spend $8 and it’s not the best tasting chocolate that I’ve ever tried,’ another person wrote. It is understood that the higher price point is due to the fact that the brand sources its chocolates ethically, keeping a slave-free chocolate chain.

Tony's Chocolonely is available in 200 Coles stores and 180 Woolworth’s stores.

I'm happy with Bulla for ice cream and if I bought chocolates it would be Darrell Lea.
A gimmick is a gimmick, no matter how nice it tastes. Not worth the cost of sampling.
