Thank you all, we went with HCF - Help needed to decide which Health Insurance for 71yr old couple

Greetings from South Australia,
For various reasons we stopped our Health Insurance 6yrs ago.
Need to get one but not sure of which one.
Any advice, tips, stories to help us decide on the best for value and dependability, etc would be greatly appreciated.
We have started our research and know we want Silver Plus.
Thank you

I have just switched my health insurance from Bupa to HCF. This was done through Health Insurance Compare. We were on Silver Plus paying $257.34 per month. Will be getting the same cover with HCF Bronze for $204.90 saving over $50.

Ahm and NIB are the best one, I was with AHM for maybe 10 years. I transferred to NIB in March because I wanted more back for prescriptions and massages they give back 60% whereas AHM give back a small set amount eg both give $400 for prescription per person. My daughters prescription cost me $280 a month. AHM gave back $40 a script NIB gave back $180.

For massages AHM gave back $28 of the $100 NIB gives back $60.

The only thing is AHM gives back 100% for glasses upto your limit where as NIB gives back 60%
I pay $390 amonth for silver plus for a family

Also a lot of medical funds are giving 8 to 10 weeks free plus wavering some waiting times.
Ask what they can do for you and you will be looked after.

If you have been without heath insurance for more than 2 years you will also pay loading which I believe is 32%

I'm covered for most things . They were good with all my hospital stays. I was only $1500 out of pocket . Each time 6 days in a private hospital. My own surgeon even my pick of anaesthetist.

I just checked I'm in top cover also with extras and pay $4,900 a year which I pay $190 a fortnight.
