Target Food

Back in the late ’70s, some Target stores in Australia had their very own supermarkets – Target Food – a bit like how Kmart had ‘K Food’ in the early days. You could pick up everything from steak to Streets ice cream, Palmolive soap, Flora margarine, and bananas for just 58 cents a kilo!

I do not remember Target Food or even having a Target store in the 70s.

I remember Franklin's, Permuens ,woolies and Coles.

I also remember Fosseys variety

I remember shopping in Roselands as a little girl in the 60s and over the decades I have seen many transformations.
But to be honest it was the best in the 60s and 70s and should be brought back to its original glory

It was called Lindsay’s Target in 1970 when it first started then changed to just Target in 1973.
I remember it as we used to wag school and go hang out in the Southland shopping centre in Cheltenham.🌞

Blacktown in the 70’s then they expanded to N.S.W. I just looked it up maybe you were too young.🌞
Strange I don't remember it. There mustn't have been many. In the 70s Blacktown was considered country and took ages to get to. Now on the motorway its 35 min and is a city in itself

I remember Lindsay's in Frankston, and the change to Target, but I can't remember either selling food there.
I'm allergic to shopping, and in particular to large shopping centres, so I know very little about Southland. I lived 5mins walk from Chadstone for 6months, but I have never been there.

I've never liked shopping and I can't explain it. I spend more time willingly waiting at the manned check out than actually shopping. I'm very lucky to have several centres close to home, so I can drop in any day and be out in 15mins or less.
