SYDNEYS SMART MOTORWAY CHAOS​

When will NSW Transport Minister realise that the biggest single mistake that has been made is the introduction of SMART MOTORWAYS.

The new interchange at Rozelle Balmain or wherever is a prime example.
I often travel on the M$ between Penrith & Parramatta, I think it was the first Smart Motorway, it saw the introduction of overhead lane directions, for what purpose? When a lane is closed due to an accident it is a green light for people to move into the vacant lane & force their way into the traffic at a later point. Never any Highway Patrol to police it. Think of the $ they could generate for the revenue collectors!
They are totally ignored, millions of dollars wasted, changes to speed limits flash on the overheads, they are totally ignored until traffic slows due to congestion. millions of dollars wasted.
WORST of all are the universally hated, nay loathed & detested 'congestion creators' (one car traffic lights) at access points to the Motorways at Peak Hours. All that happens is traffic backs up before you get on the Motorway, creating delays to feeder roads, adding many minutes to the drive, it does not allow traffic to access more easily and more quickly.
You only have to look at days when they are not working, how much smoother & faster the traffic merges. This is the prime reason there is so much congestion on the new road/intersections.
We pay more TOLLS than any other country & all we get is slower trips each morning & evening commute. We deserve something for our money.
