Sweet without the guilt! Fitness coach shares low-calorie Aldi doughnut hack
- Replies 1
Everyone loves a fresh, warm bakery treat, especially something like a classic Long John doughnut. Luckily for us, this Aussie health enthusiast shared a quick and easy recipe to fix our doughnut cravings, minus the calories!
Qualified personal trainer Bec Hardgrave shared a video on her Instagram page showing a hassle-free recipe for a Jam and Cream Long John, made in under five minutes.
The kitchen hack made use of Aldi’s low-calorie brioche hot dog rolls, lightly whipped cream, and Natvia sugar-free jam.
Bec mentioned in the comments that if there isn’t an Aldi near you, Coles and Woolies have their own version of the bread too!
She started by putting the store-bought bun in her air fryer to warm it up. Once done, she added the light whipped cream and no-sugar jam on top of the heated bread.
She dusted the treat with a light coating of icing sugar to finish.
The finished product looked like it came from the bakery. Photos from Instagram.
One health-conscious follower asked how many calories the snack has, and Bec revealed that it only has 175 calories! So there’s no guilt for having something as delicious as this for breakfast, morning tea or afternoon tea.
"This is one of my favourite hacks because you are basically eating a massive homemade doughnut for 1/4 of the calories and effort!" The fitness coach said in the caption.
"This doughnut comes in at 175 Calories (probably less, but I maximised toppings for you guys in the recipe) - the original is 300+ cals!"
Followers commented that they had tried the recipe and they loved it.
"I tried it, and omg, best thing ever!" One user said.
Another added: “Making it again tonight!”
Some of Bec’s low-calorie hacks include food from Grill’d and KFC, even drinks from Starbucks. Photos from Instagram.
Popular desserts are her iced vovos, custard tarts, chocolate eclairs, vanilla slices and almond croissants.
But for those who don't have a sweet tooth, Bec also has simple hacks for delicious fast food too.
She understands that not everyone can give up their favourite takeaways in the name of fitness, so instead, she has made healthy versions everyone can enjoy.
These include Grill’d chips, burgers that taste just like Maccas’ burgers, Hungry Jack’s and Betty’s burgers, and even Asian bao buns.
Low-joule versions of classic comfort foods such as mac and cheese, Thai chicken curry, and a full breakfast fry-up are also included.
Bec has made sure she has everything for everyone with the variety of healthy and low-calorie menus she’s offering. And the best part is they’re effortless to make, and proudly Aussie too!
