Sweet autumn delights: Woolworths and ALDI introduce irresistible chocolate treats!

As the leaves begin to turn and the air grows crisper, Australians are in for a couple of treats that are sure to add a dash of sweetness to their autumn days.

Australian supermarkets are once again proving to be a haven for those with a sweet tooth, as Woolworths and ALDI introduce new chocolate delights that are sure to tantalise taste buds across the nation.

In the coming days, Woolworths is set to introduce a delightful twist to their much-loved mud cake range.

The supermarket giant has taken inspiration from another dessert favourite to create the Hokey Pokey Mud Cake, a limited-time treat that combines the irresistible flavours of milk chocolate and honeycomb.

Crafted from milk chocolate, the latest version is covered in honeycomb pieces, drawing inspiration from a well-loved dessert.

‘Hokey Pokey continues to be a popular ice cream flavour, and we wanted to bring this classic taste to our mud cake range,’ a Woolies spokesperson stated.

‘In the past, we’ve experimented with a few ice cream flavours, like last year’s Cookies & Cream mud cake. It was a huge hit.’

‘Bringing delicious chocolate and honeycomb together, we hope everyone can enjoy this sweet treat, whether it’s a convenient dessert or becomes part of a larger celebration cake masterpiece.’

‘As the name suggests, that’s what it’s all about,’ they added.

The limited-edition item will be available for $7 at all Woolworths supermarkets starting this Wednesday, May 8.

This isn't the first time honeycomb has made a buzz in the confectionery world.

Another beloved brand, KitKat, recently launched two new flavours featuring chunks of honeycomb, further cementing the treat's popularity among Australian consumers.

Nestle's Head of Marketing Confectionery, Melanie Chen, highlighted that these new KitKat flavours are a response to Aussies' love for textured chocolate and the KitKat gold range.

‘KitKat honeycomb flavour buzz and KitKat gold crush are an elevated twist on having a “break”,’ she said.

‘With more Aussies than ever finding small moments of joy in their everyday purchasing choices, KitKat’s new flavours offer a decadent moment to ‘break’ and enjoy the moment.’

Meanwhile, a new treat emerged on the shelves of ALDI that's causing quite a stir among chocolate aficionados.

The latest confectionery delight to grace ALDI's shelves is a sumptuous hazelnut praline chocolate block, priced at $3.79.

This new offering features a velvety hazelnut praline centre lovingly enveloped in a smooth milk chocolate coating.

The buzz around this chocolate bar began to build as soon as it hit the stores, with shoppers taking to social media to express their adoration for the treat.

One Melbourne woman, couldn't contain her excitement, proclaiming, ‘This could be the best item at ALDI. This is my dream combination…it’s amazing. Wow. If you love Nutella, that hazelnut flavour, you have to try this.’

Melbourne food blogger @AngeEats echoed this sentiment, describing the chocolate as 'Nutella chocolate' and praising its creamy texture and rich praline filling.

‘Woah, seriously smooth, super creamy, loaded with praline...my reaction says it all,’ he said in a video review. ‘You need to try it.’

The chocolate bar has even been compared to the Whittaker’s Hazella block, which launched to much excitement in Australia last October.

Food reviewer @nectoriouspapi called it a 'dupe' for Whittaker’s offering, adding, 'This is soooo good.'
