Imagine our surprise when David 'Kochie' Koch, Sunrise presenter, attended his very first fashion week in Sydney and bumped into a familiar face — none other than his former co-host, Melissa Doyle!
The 67-year-old television personality attended the Mariam Seddiq show alongside current Sunrise co-host Natalie Barr and, to everyone's delight, got to catch up with Melissa Doyle during this fashionable rendezvous. Channel 7 personal stylist Natalie Shehata also joined them in the front row, lending her expertise to the event.
Natalie Barr documented the experience, writing, 'Took Kochie to his first fashion show. The incredible Mariam Seddiq really put on an amazing night. What a woman!' She then shared a delightful video of a slightly bewildered-looking Kochie, as well as a selfie capturing the lively reunion.

As a refresher, Melissa Doyle hosted Sunrise alongside Kochie from 2002 to 2013 before Samantha Armytage took over. After Sam's departure in 2021, Natalie Barr stepped in as the current co-host. Melissa has since been working with Channel 7 for the show This Is Your Life.

Data suggests that nearly a third of Australian adolescents are unhappy with their bodies, with some feeling like their body type is an obstacle to achieving success. A 2018 report from The Butterfly Foundation highlighted that online advertising of extreme beauty standards and the use of unhealthy models and influencers might be exacerbating this trend and impacting negatively on Australians’ overall mental health.
Fortunately, there have been several movements and campaigns highlighting the danger of these unrealistic views and the importance of body positivity. Mel and her daughter Talia have recently joined forces with cosmetics company Dove to launch a petition calling for a national inquiry into body image standards in Australia. By shedding light on this issue, we can come together to create a healthier environment and put effective measures in place to build confident and healthy future generations.
