The holiday season is also the drinking season here in Australia. And if, like me, you’ve also been looking forward to having a glass of your favourite drink with family and friends, you’ll probably want to secure your choice of drink sooner rather than later!
Major alcohol retailers warned of alcohol shortage within the next few months, as supply chains for beverages across the globe were still disrupted by the pandemic.

Endeavour Group, the owner of Dan Murphy's and BWS, announced that COVID-19 continues to cause logistical problems worldwide, and stocks affected include imported drinks such as liqueurs and spirits.
Sourcing issues also rose as Australians coming out of lockdown celebrated by emptying supermarket shelves of their alcoholic drinks, said chief executive Steve Donohue.
“We have proactively allowed for more lead time when importing products to mitigate any potential supply chain delays.”
“There are also some stock constraints on imported liqueurs and certain spirits across the world, with many customers getting into making cocktails at home with bars and venues closed during lockdown,” he said.
Mr Donohue assured the Aussies would still be able to pick up their favourite beverages ahead of the festive seasons, “We don’t expect any major disruptions for customers leading into Christmas.”
“If a customer temporarily can’t find their favourite imported drink, they will be able to find suitable alternatives in our stores.”
Since the start of the pandemic, more than 500 local brands have been added to the beverage chain’s network.
“We have more Australian-made drinks than ever before in our stores, so we encourage customers to support Australian-made drinks leading up to Christmas,” he said.
Do not let the festive season go by being alcohol-free! Head to your nearest alcohol store now and get those bottles before they run out.
