Stay Away from Kmarts Anko Hot Plate

My ovens hotplates are cooking only on high and I don't want to buy a new oven or get it fixed as I'm planning renovating my kitchen over the next few weeks.

Hubby and I went to kmart on Saturday as he wanted an oven for outdoors .

A twin hotplate caught his eye and said this would be goid to use until we decided what we are doing with the kitchen.
It was only $32 and I should have remembered my favourite saying " you get what you pay for"

I cooked omelettes on it ..all was good

I cooked soup on it ...all was good.

Then last night I cooked steak and chips 😡

Steak took 20 minutes for medium rare 😡

Chips ..well let's say after 70 minutes I gave up and threw them out.

What I have learnt from it is great for things you cook on low to medium heat or simmering. Forget cooking any meat , chips or vegies that usually cook fast.

So it's the ANKO TWIN HOTPLATE FROM KMART $32

If it plugs into a standard powerpoint it's only going to generate 2.5 kilowatts heat total or 1250 watts per element. Suggest you check the label underneath or the box. At least Kmart won't quibble about a refund (y)
