Sprite releases two fresh takes on the classic soft drink – with a CAFFEINE twist!

Just when you thought the iconic drink couldn’t get any better, two new versions of Sprite have just hit the supermarket shelves for the first time in Australia! If you don’t mind a little boost of caffeine in your occasional glass of soft drink, then you’re in for a treat.

Sprite Lemon+ and Sprite Lemon+ Zero Sugar boast a stronger lemon taste than the standard Sprite drink. But the two new takes also come with something else never seen before in Sprite’s fizzy world – caffeine. Now that’s a match made in heaven, eh?

Coca-Cola South Pacific Marketing Director Kate Miller stated: ‘Sprite has always been clear with its position as a brand that refreshes people.’

‘With the introduction of our latest innovation, Sprite Lemon+, we are taking refreshment to the next level.’

Ms Miller added that the new versions can help ‘encourage people to “think zesty” and refresh them mentally’.

The beverages have officially made their way to supermarket shelves across Australia. The launch followed after Coca-Cola announced a major change to the Sprite bottle earlier this year.

While the drink has been widely associated with its green packaging for 60 years, the bottles will now be clear.

The current Sprite bottles feature green Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), which can be repurposed into single-use items. But because of its distinct colour, it can’t be recycled into new bottles.

From August 1, the colour was removed from Sprite bottles in the US. In Australia, only Sprite No Sugar and Lemon Plus are packaged in clear bottles. Hopefully, they’ll make this change to their whole range in the near future.

I will definitley Be trying the no sugar caffeine one. Makes a change from come zero.👍😋

I don't want caffeine in my soft drink. I just think this a new marketing ploy. Dont' drink much soft drink only if going out to dinner. I want just a straight lemon soft drink.

We do not need more caffeine drinks. There are enough behaviour issues in the community as it is, especiallywith uoung people. High level caffeine drinks should be banned. They are accessible to anyone of any age.
