The Kmart sandwich maker is one of the most affordable machines out there for those who want a deep sandwich maker without all the bells and whistles. It has non-stick plates, making it easy to use and clean.

However, the machine received a low rating from unsatisfied customers, with many leaving some unpleasant reviews.

“This thing barely gets warm enough to toast the bread, however, it will happily melt your cheese and let the sauce from your baked beans filter into its casing, along with melted butter and oil,” one customer said.

Another mum recalled: “I bought this item in hopes to make lunches and dinners easier for my 7-year-old son but as soon as it arrived I opened it up and was very disappointed due to the size of the plates and also how small and flimsy it was.”

“I thought we should give it a go so I plugged it in and made my sandwiches.”

“It begins to cook half the breadsticks out of the machine, leaving it cooking unevenly.”

She added: “Also cheese dripping out the sides as it was cooking the machine suddenly switches off and both the lights suddenly turned off. So, i turned it off by the power and turned it back on. Nothing, no lights at all.”

“I then saw a spark flash out and it blew a fuse and half my power in the kitchen/lounge room went off.”

The reviews on the product just mean that the cheapest option may not always be the best. We always recommend reading product reviews before you buy!

I have a sandwich maker lurking somewhere in the back of one of my cupboards. I must hunt it out and give it a whirl. A cheese toastie would go down a treat right about now!:)

Sorry none of these products are jaffle makers or jaffle irons. Firstly jaffle irons from days gone by were used as fill in and substitute meals for the working class and the less fortunate. They were used in open fires and on slow combustion stoves. All these electrical devices are sandwich presses, before everyone jumps on says you don't have open fires or slow combustion stoves you do have bbqs and hotcakes to use your jaffle irons on, recipes like leftover mince, cheese and ham, jam, and so on baked beans🇦🇺👍😄

I have been using my sandwich maker for years and it is still going, only had a new cord replaced. They good when the weather is cooler. I put meat, tomato or anything else and cheese of course is a must, yum!

I still have my original jaffle iron from the early 1980s and my son has "inherited" my mums jaffle iron and hers is about the same age as mine, been use on a regular basis all that time and they are Breville brand.

I have a sandwich maker lurking somewhere in the back of one of my cupboards. I must hunt it out and give it a whirl. A cheese toastie would go down a treat right about now!:)
Lightly smear the inside of the sandwich maker and sprinkle grated cheese on either side before toasting .... makes the toastie nice and crunchie
