Slow Cooker Beef Brisket with Sweet Barbecue Sauce

Members, is there anything more comforting than the aroma of a slow-cooked beef brisket simmering in a deliciously sweet and hearty barbecue sauce? We don’t think so! All it takes are a couple of pantry staples and some time to let the slow cooker do its magic. And when it’s time to eat, prepare to be blown away by the beef that melts in your mouth. Serve it with some creamy mashed potato and green peas for a dinner meal like no other.

Here are the ingredients you need:

1. 800g of flat piece beef brisket or beef chuck steak, trimmed
2. Olive oil cooking spray
3. Two sprigs of fresh rosemary
4. A quarter cup of dijon mustard
5. Half a cup of barbecue sauce
6. Two tbsp of honey
7. A tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
8. One and a half cups of beef stock
9. Sweet potato mash, to serve
10. Peas, to serve

First, take the beef and spray it all over with a little oil. As the beef pieces usually come attached to the bone, you may need to cut them in half (lengthways) to fit them into the slow cooker.

After that, heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add the beef. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until well browned. Put the beef into the slow cooker bowl along with the rosemary. Combine the remaining ingredients in a jug and pour the mixture over the beef so that it just covers the meat.

Cover with the lid and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours, or until the beef is extremely tender. You may check if the beef is done sooner by cutting it with a sharp knife.

Once it’s perfectly cooked, remove the beef from the slow cooker and set it aside on a board. Carefully discard the rosemary from the cooked beef. Using two forks, roughly shred the beef.

Scoop some sweet potato mash on top of each plate before topping it with some beef and the delicious barbecue sauce. Garnish with peas. Enjoy!

Without much effort, you can create comforting, delicious meals that your family and friends will love.

I can’t stand shredded meat. I fine it stringy and unpleasant to eat, and it gets caught in my teeth. 🤣
