Shopping centre locks down after machete-wielding teens caused chaos

Patrons of the Bayside Shopping Centre in Frankston, south of Melbourne, were thrown into chaos and fear in a harrowing incident.

A group of teenagers, one reportedly armed with a machete, stormed the Bayside Shopping Centre in Frankston, south of Melbourne, leading to a complete shutdown of the premises.

The chaos unfolded at around 10:50 am on Tuesday, 16 July, as police were called to the scene following reports of the armed group attacking shoppers.

The situation quickly escalated as customers and staff were forced to seek refuge, barricading themselves inside shops to escape the threat.

The police believed one boy was holding an 'edged weapon’.

In a desperate bid for safety, one of the injured was shielded by the staff at Pandora, who acted swiftly to barricade the victim inside the store.

Meanwhile, the teenager wielding the machete reportedly cut his hand before fleeing the scene, leaving behind the weapon, which was later discovered in a nearby bin.

It was reported that two male offenders were allegedly responsible for assaulting three shoppers, all of whom sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

Witnesses at the scene implored the boy with the machete to 'throw the knife away', highlighting the tense and dangerous nature of the confrontation.

Social media became a platform for witnesses to share about the incident, with one recounting how their partner witnessed the alarming sight of the youths with the knife and another individual bleeding profusely.

‘My partner was walking down and all the doors were shut,’ one user wrote.

‘He saw the kids with the knife and another kid that was bleeding everywhere.’

A Victorian Police spokesman addressed the incident, stating that officers responded to reports of teenagers 'causing trouble'.

‘During the incident, it is believed one boy had an edged weapon,’ the spokesman said.

‘Officers attended the scene and located an edged weapon in a nearby bin.’

Police claimed no serious injuries were reported, and inquiries are ongoing to understand the full scope of the incident and to take appropriate action against those involved.

Totally disgusting behaviour. Seems like nobody is safe anywhere any more, it's no wonder people are doing their shopping online more and more now. Police presence needs to be stepped up and Judges need to start throwing the book at all offenders instead of taking the easy way out.

And where are all the bleeding heart goody two shoes who run around the country side sticking up for this scum, coming up with all sorts of excuses as to why these poor little darlings shouldn't go to jail.
When we were young we had respect for police and knew we would go to a children's home if we were breaking the law .
Now we have children running riot, taking over,. because they know there is no punishment.
Why do those in-charge listen to these so-called experts.
How is that working for them???? Not too well as far as I can see
It's about time the law started looking after the majority of the population and not the minority.
And about time the parents of these children are charged with child neglect.

AT 13 and 14 they are out at the wee hours of the morning doing armed robbery stealing cars and joy ridding at very high speeds and the list goes on the police are power less to stop them, these kids know more about the law than a lot legal minds do, you cannot touch me you will get in more trouble than me
I would deport them and the hole family back to where they came from, they wont do it over there the police have the power to shot them as a law breaker, here they just get told off send them back to there own country mum and dad as well as the brothers and sisters then see who takes to doing the rep-remand there children

Thank goodness l have not encountered any thing like this, but it's happening nearly every week in a shopping centre in Melbourne.
My poor mum who is 81 was shopping with my 85 year old step father last week at their local shopping centre being school holidays it was very busy. I have said to mum go early in the morning during school holidays because the teens are sleeping in.
Poor mum said. Oh it was terrible at the shopping plaza we could not get a parking space, little ones screaming and people everywhere, mum said it was the first time l was ever scared at the shops. Poor mum, with all the dreadful things that have been going on in the shopping centres since Bondi has put the fear into her. I can imagine mum would not be the only older person who is now feeling anxious to go to shopping plazas.
So sad one cannot feel safe just doing everyday things now.
Kind regards to all Vicki

Im a crossing supervisor in Frankston, and I have seen in mad people shouting abuse swearing the F word, going crazy, during when the children on the way to school and are scared of them, in fact one abused me, also another one around the corner from me abused another crossing supervisor and smashed her stop sign, one day something awful could happen, not only that some of these crazy people live around the corner near the school, a few years ago they had a special place for these people but then the stupid government closed them down, they should be put away for good,
