Shoppers go wild over new $6 Coles doughnuts: ‘unreal’

Doughnuts are a treat that would make any Aussie salivate. A sweet ring-shaped cake with heavenly filling that is topped with frostings, sprinkles, and other goodies, and comes in different shapes, sizes, and flavours. Yum!

It’s safe to say that us Aussies love our doughnuts. This is why Coles’ newly launched range of fancy flavoured doughnuts went viral after a shopper posted about it on Tiktok, claiming they were “delicious” and “unreal.”

The shopper, who goes by the handle sammy_dyer, documented how he purchased the supermarket’s ‘Donut Mind If I Do’ range in the video, which has been viewed more than 360,000 times.

“I grabbed two boxes because I just couldn’t help myself.”

He purchased two of the $6 two-pack varieties, which included one cookies and cream flavour and one raspberry cheesecake doughnut in one packet, and the other two-pack variety included a caramel crunch and a choc caramel doughnut.

Sammy described the doughnuts as "pretty damn filled" with a "heavy" dough that he enjoyed.

More than 400 people commented on the video, with many saying they were "adding these to their shopping list."

“They look sick,” one person wrote.

“I know what I am getting for a cheat day,” another person commented.

While many shoppers praised the new fresh-baked treat, others were not impressed, with some doughnut connoisseurs claiming that “without the filling, they are pretty dry.”

“Such a letdown,” another shopper said. “They had potential, but no.”

Coles launched the ‘Donut Mind If I Do’ line earlier this month. Katie Storey, the supermarket's bakery cake manager, told news.com.au that the treat has proven "very popular," particularly in one state.

“Coles data shows our Victorian customers are eating more doughnuts compared to other states and territories.”

The doughnuts are also available in Raspberry Iced Jam, Choc Iced Jam, Rocky Road, and Fairy Bread flavours.
