Shoppers embrace ALDI's $6.49 cult favourite return—grab yours before it’s gone!

Hunting for a beloved grocery item can be quite the adventure, especially when it involves a cult favourite that's been off the shelves for an eternity.

That thrill has just returned for many Australian shoppers, thanks to ALDI Australia's decision to bring back a much-missed treat.

The supermarket chain has re-released its fan-favourite frozen Bavarian Pretzels or Stick 498g ($6.49), and at the wallet-friendly price, it's no wonder ALDI fans are racing to their local stores.

They come in a box of six, complete with a salt sachet for the perfect seasoning touch.

Designed to be enjoyed in the comfort of your home, they offer a taste of traditional Bavarian cuisine, ideal for celebrating Oktoberfest or simply indulging in a savoury baked good.

The pretzels are available in two shapes: the classic twist and a stick form, catering to all pretzel preferences.

On social media, shoppers shared their excitement and reviews, with some even admitting to stockpiling the limited edition item.

The anticipation has been building for two years since the pretzels were last available, and the return has been met with comments like, 'I'm running to my ALDI in the morning,' and 'It honestly seems I've been waiting years for them to come back.'

The label on the box invites customers to 'Enjoy the traditional Bavarian taste right from the oven,' and it seems that many are taking up the offer.

However, the popularity of these 'delicious' baked pastries has led to a frenzy, with reports of low stock or complete sell-outs in several states.

One shopper lamented, 'I got some today, but stocks are low or gone in most shops.'

The authenticity of ALDI's frozen pretzels has even caught the attention of European expats, who find them so genuine that there's been talk of a petition to have them stocked year-round.

'Someone in our German community started a petition to have them permanently stocked at ALDI,' shared a member of the German community in Australia.

This excitement around ALDI's frozen pretzels follows the supermarket's announcement of the best products of 2024, as voted by shoppers.

With over 312,000 votes cast, customers have highlighted their must-have grocery items, which range from chicken to stain-removing laundry detergent.

Topping the Socialite category was the $8.99 Urban Eats Greek Spinach & Cheese Spanakopita, another 'delicious' dish that's won over fans for its convenience and suitability for family dinners or weekend gatherings.

In other news, ALDI shoppers love the new Char Siu Pork Bao Bun Kit, which is now available in stores.

At $14.99, the kit includes all the ingredients to make eight bao buns, making it a popular option for a quick and tasty meal. You can read more about it here.

That's the trouble with Aldi. Extremely inconsistent stock and often very limited range.

Prices can be very good. It's only saving grace.

Quality and nutritional value can be questionable at times.

I still buy some things from there. But I enjoy the Woolies experience much more.
