The Grammy Award-winning artist is now recuperating at home, surrounded by the love and support of his family.

Bolton, known for his soulful ballads like 'When a Man Loves a Woman' and 'How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,' took to his social media to share the news.

He began his post by saying, ‘I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year! I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges.’

'Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumour, which required immediate surgery,' Bolton wrote.

However, he was quick to reassure his fans, adding, 'Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.'

The diagnosis has forced Bolton to ‘take a temporary break from touring’, a decision he admitted was difficult.

'It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon,' he said.

Despite the setback, Bolton remains positive and grateful for the outpouring of support he has received.

‘I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years,' he expressed.

Know that I'm keeping your positive messages in my heart, and I'll give you more updates as soon as I can. Much love always, MB.’

Fans and fellow musicians have flooded Bolton's social media with love and well wishes, showing their support for the singer-songwriter during this challenging time.

According to Bolton's official website, the 'Go The Distance' hitmaker had various tour dates scheduled throughout 2024, with concerts originally slated to begin on February 1 in Florida. However, these plans are now on hold as Bolton focuses on his recovery.

Despite his health challenges, Bolton had a busy 2023. He made an appearance on The Masked Singer as the Wolf and performed during the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade in December.

He also released an album titled Spark Of Light in June 2023, which contained tracks such as 'Beautiful World' and 'Just The Beginning.'

In an interview with People, Bolton discussed the album's message of finding happiness and positivity in difficult times.

'We were basically observing our friends and family and seeing that they all really needed some light, that it was so dark and oppressive and basically we were all just carrying layers of fear to our every day,' he said.

Bolton, a father of three daughters and a grandfather to six, also opened up about the importance of family.

'I'm filled with more love and pride in my girls as they raise their own families,' he gushed.

'The people I love bring me a lot of happiness...The important things never really change. Love is the most important thing, the centre of the universe. There's nothing greater.'

Bolton currently resides in Connecticut, where he has built a recording studio near his home.

'For a long time, I took on every possible form of promotion, and I'd be in the recording studio by 8 am or 9 am—but these days I do less of that,' he told The Guardian in August 2023.

‘I built a recording studio 200 yards from my house in Westport, Connecticut. That way, I can record music and not have to go [to] New York City. It was one of the best investments I ever made.’

Despite his health scare, Bolton remains optimistic and determined. 'The fun starts happening when you let go of things...I don't feel like I'm near slowing down yet,' he said.

Everyone hopes to have a faster cure for cancer or other serious diseases. But in a recent story, a study conducted revealed that a particular illegal party drug might be a key to a breakthrough in cancer treatment.
