See why customers are livid about 'outrageous' change to this popular supermarket product!

In the ever-evolving consumer goods landscape, changes to our favourite products can stir up quite a storm.

Recently, a tempest has been brewing in the dairy aisle of supermarkets across Australia. This popular staple in many a lunchbox and afternoon snack rotation has undergone a change that has left shoppers reeling with frustration.

The change sparked a wave of complaints, with loyal customers feeling blindsided by the shift. As consumers take to social media to voice their dissatisfaction, the question on everyone’s mind is whether these changes are here to stay or if the company will respond to the backlash.

Once nestled snugly beside the creamy chocolate treat, the iconic plastic spoon has vanished without a trace.

This seemingly small alteration has sparked a wave of fury among consumers, who felt that nostalgia and convenience had been sacrificed.

Food influencer Russ Eats captured the collective dismay in a viral rant that resonated with many.

'I'm in shock. They have removed the spoon from the Yogo Mix. No spoon, less plastic, same f****** price,' he exclaimed, voicing a sentiment shared by many.

The spoon's absence has turned what was once a simple pleasure into a logistical puzzle, leaving fans to wonder how they're expected to enjoy their Yogo on the go.

According to Yogo's parent company, removing the spoon is part of a broader commitment to reducing plastic waste.

It's a noble cause that aligns with the latest NSW EPA legislation, which will ban the integration of plastic spoons into packaging in 2025.

Yet, the execution has left customers scratching their heads, particularly since the packaging still features the haunting silhouette of the missing spoon.

'We removed the plastic spoon from our packaging to quickly comply with the latest NSW EPA legislation,' a Yogo spokesperson explained.

'While we explored alternatives like a bamboo spoon, unfortunately, none quite fit the mould (literally!) but, change is on the way.'

The irony of a plastic gap where the spoon once sat has not been lost on consumers.

'The packaging still has the spot the spoon used to be in. It's fully plastic,' Russ pointed out, highlighting the mixed messaging of the move.

'I get sustainability; something is better than nothing, but I need a spoon to eat this. The whole point is that it comes in a neat little package.'

The outcry has been loud and clear on social media, with shoppers offering a mix of sarcastic solutions and genuine suggestions.

Some have even shared their improvised strategies for spoonless Yogo consumption, like using the aluminium lid as a makeshift spoon or, in a pinch, resorting to fingers.

Parents, in particular, have lamented the spoon loss, which they found convenient for their children's snack times.

The frustration is palpable, with many calling for the gap in the packaging to be filled with more Yogo or for the spoon to be reinstated.

Creative solutions have been proposed, from perforating the lid to create a DIY spoon to introducing an edible cookie spoon that could be enjoyed post-Yogo.

Some have hailed the latter idea, suggested by a customer's daughter, as 'genius'.

Yogo Mix isn't the only product facing cutlery conundrums. Cup noodles, another quick and easy snack, have also ditched their signature forks, leading to similar consumer grievances.

As the dust settles on this cutlery crisis, shoppers are left to adapt, carrying their own spoons or hoping for a redesign that either brings back the spoon or reimagines the packaging entirely.

'Fill it with more Yogo or give us the spoon back!' one customer demanded, echoing the thoughts of many.

We understand the importance of convenience, especially when enjoying our favourite treats.

We also recognise the need for sustainable practices. However, it's clear that when changes are made, they must be thoughtful and considerate of the consumer experience.
